@yanisvaroufakis Hey Yanis, remember when you made a bunch of unachievable promises to Greece and wrecked their economy even further, forcing them into even deeper austerity and killing thousands of people? I remember xx

It is genuinely astonishing to me how little I pay for 900Mbps internet that is 100% reliable and always delivers at least 800Mbps. Thank you @CityFibre (and my council for permitting it, all those who operate on your fibres, and the private equity people subsidising my internet)

@JoStevensLabour I'm a Labour member but I really wish we could stop with these desperate looking cringe attack lines. The Green Party is utter slopulism and Zack Polanski is an intellectual void, they'd send us into a massive debt crisis. We don't need clips of him singing.

@labourball literally the only semi ( and I mean *semi* ) serious party left and yet they have to be *so cringe*. I'm in Gorton and Denton and was genuinely embarrassed to campaign for them even when the other options were vacuous populists.

@JoannaBiddolph The NIMBY rallying cry:- "I support more housing, but..."

Housing: This is true in Hounslow. "What we need is proper family houses - four and five bedroom properties - to stop overcrowding”.  I, too, am not a NIMBY. I support sensible development. We need family homes, built in the right places, at the right price: not overdevelopment.
Wandsworth Conservatives@wandsworth

🏗️ Labour’s plans for the Ashburton Estate mean cramming in tiny flats, even building over play areas, with zero regard for the people who already live here. This isn’t regeneration. It’s overdevelopment.

There are about three archetypes of British YIMBY: Labour Right: the only one who actually does YIMBY stuff in practice Nick Clegg was right Lib Dem: just one more think thank and fringe event bro Tory: we're totally YIMBYs bro just ignore every single council we run
Cassie Pritchard@hecubian_devil

Do they even have YIMBYs in the UK? Like obviously things are bad here in the US but there’s lots of signs that we might turn things around on housing. Over there…am I just not seeing it? Or does it not exist?

@PeverellTom @ObserverUK I mean what are they supposed to do? Most governing is boring, most achievements incremental, and even the more radical overhauls like planning reform can be unpopular and/or uninteresting.

The problem seems to be neither the Labour party nor the LibDems actually seem to stand for anything. All their posts are against other parties or for pathetic things like breakfast clubs. We live in an era of hot wars and economic turmoil. Offering a bowl of cheerios is not it. Ppl like the Greens and Reform because they have definite views (even if their policies are bonkers). The Tories seem to be slowly realising this.

Britain’s only way out of this mess is a shift to the centre, writes Philip Collins Voting intentions are split five ways, so politicians must plan for a coalition. Can anyone make space between the left and right? bit.ly/4bE9ElD

It’s time to join greens if you are not a Reform mug and you don’t want them to get in. Tactical voting will matter in all of your constituencies in the May election. Make sure you register to vote and get your friends and family to do the same 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿☕️🫖

@DisasterAreaPP @Tweets_of_Oscar They've literally begun the analysis during the COVID years, when the Greens made gains to get a majority and some pluralities *after* lockdown. Cez is BSing *hard* because he rides hard for the Greens.

@DisasterAreaPP @Tweets_of_Oscar Oh, addendum to this:- The data going back to 2020, when the Greens took over Mid Suffolk in 2023? Very convenient for them, because there was a little world altering event that basically halted construction for a couple of years in the early 2020s. Also affects Green plurality.

@DisasterAreaPP @Tweets_of_Oscar Look I'll give you this, LVT is based, actual Green Party policy W right there ( though proportional property tax probably easier to implement, hell I'll settle for a council tax valuation update at this point lmfao )

@DeanFoley2 @Tweets_of_Oscar there's definitely some nuances to be had with this. I'm open to things like planning reform (it is too easy to block developments). Land value tax would realise the cost of car parks etc. and lead to more of those becoming high rise properties too.
