Thought piece… imagine ‘normal’ teaching was like supply teaching, imagine how many more teachers would be happy? no lesson obs, learning walks, progress meetings, data sheets, OFSTED prep/visits. Go in, basic lesson outline, enjoy teaching kids, leave when done, worry for less.

Teacher. As I say goodbye to another year of children, my fess is that I'm quitting teaching. One child has been held back a year, he's the worst child I have ever taught in my 12 years of teaching. Simply can't deal with him for another year.

@fesshole A friend of mine recently swapped a well paid managerial job to go into teaching. Hates it. Hates the kids. Spends all day just trying to stop them smashing the place or each other up. If they reprimand the kids, they get in trouble with parents/head. Working a way to get out.

@fesshole they might think your the best teacher they’ve had and they play up because they comfortable with you and think they are safe to behave this way … ever asked the pupil who he/she wants or favorite as a teacher? Might give you insight to the situation

@IanHarnett @fesshole No. A senior leader decision. Based on achievement, where birthday is in school year, development milestones or socialisation. Very very rarely happens in UK schools.

I've been a Head Teacher for 13 years, most of which inheriting and leading RI schools. I've never put a teacher on a 'support plan'.

@DeloresWhi50682 @Thinkingschool2 I worked have in schools with business managers and HR managers on SLT. No teaching background.

@Thinkingschool2 Off topic but out of interest, support staff who are managers in schools, why are they never on SLT teams. They often have so much knowledge but why are SLT teams nearly always just teachers?
