Friends of 360 HS

School Board voted UNANIMOUSLY to call on @pvdschools and @RIDeptEd to halt the closure of 360HS. If there was ever a time for @AInfanteGreen to be a knight in shining armor for MLLs and other disadvantaged kids, it’s right now. Do the right thing: Halt the closure.

@Suzanne_Wernevi @DanMcGowan @RIDeptEd That is our thought, as well. This settlement is an ounce of accountability - in reality, we need gallons. But we are thankful that SOMEONE cared enough to do SOMETHING about the injustice that has happened to us.

Why is it that no one seems to care that Providence lost an excellent principal as part of this debacle? Can the district really afford to lose that kind of talent?

Friends of 360 is grateful to the Center for Justice and the Federal court for finally holding this unchecked Commissioner to account.

and adversely impacted one of the most vulnerable student groups in our city and state: multilingual learners. This is but one part of a greater pattern of incompetence, with the latest example in the Department of Justice intervention at the Newcomer Academy.

Our statement on the lawsuit settlement: This settlement is a victory for 360 High School students and for all the teachers and staff in schools closed during the state takeover in Providence.

This survey is confusing and misleading, and to say that it is not family- or community-facing is an understatement. The only upside is that we can rate the state takeover “poor” in so many different ways.

Our last graduating class. The ceremony was beautiful, powerful & bittersweet. For 7 years I worked with an amazing admin & staff, I can’t thank them enough. I guess it’s true that all good things come to an end. I will hold this school & all of the memories in my heart forever.

In a surprise to no one who is familiar with @Friendsof360HS, our staff and students continue to excel, with our school winning Top High School Project at RI Civics Day and @caleighrock winning the Teacher Changemaker award via @Sabina_Matos

What an incredible testimony to our community. All along, we have argued that test scores cannot convey all of the reasons why our school is special - this podcast shows what is possible when we consider this reality.

The closure of 360 and the lack of oversight at Newcomer show that the district continues to fail to meet the needs of our most vulnerable students. Both situations need to be rectified immediately.

In their lawsuit against the district, one MLL says that she is "fearless" with her English thanks to the instruction she received at 360. The district is closing us while across town, students need to beg to even have a language course.

Hello Community! Update: Out of 350 students on our roster there are only 4 I don’t know by name and face! Of the 4 I don’t know by name and face, 3 are enrolled but has had challenges attending school this year so definitely some work to do!
