With summer in full swing, we're taking a look back at Commissioner @AInfanteGreen's visit to Block Island School last month! 🌊 It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with educators and to celebrate student success. RIDE thanks the Block Island School for its warm welcome!

We’re proud to be helping lead the largest transformation of Rhode Island’s K-12 educational infrastructure in generations. Recently, our Providence team sponsored the AIA Rhode Island School Building Authority Showcase, hosted in partnership with @RIDeptEd, bringing together industry leaders, educators, and community stakeholders to celebrate the progress being made throughout the state. With more than a dozen active K-12 projects underway and partnerships spanning seven school districts, Shawmut is helping communities create modern, innovative learning environments that will serve thousands of students for years to come. During the showcase, our team highlighted several of these projects and joined conversations focused on the importance of continued investment in school infrastructure. Attendees also had the opportunity to vote for their favorite active RIDE project, with the all-new $326 million Pawtucket High School earning the top honor.

Happy 4th of July from RIDE! 🇺🇸 As we celebrate America’s 250th birthday today, we remember Rhode Island’s role as one of the original 13 colonies. Stephen Hopkins & William Ellery were appointed by the RI General Assembly to sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Tomorrow is America’s 250th! 🇺🇸 #DYK? RI was the last state to ratify the U.S. Constitution. Leaders were worried it would limit their rights. The promise of a Bill of Rights led to its eventual ratification in 1790. Students learn about it in grades 4, 5, 8 & high school #RI250

2 days until America’s 250th! 🇺🇸 #DYK? In summer of 1781, General Rochambeau & French troops, together with American forces, marched from Providence to Virginia on what is now the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route & helped secure the American victory at Yorktown. #RI250

3 days until America’s 250th! 🇺🇸 #DYK? In the 1778 Battle of Rhode Island, the 1st Rhode Island Regiment helped repel British forces near Portsmouth. This was the last major Revolutionary War battle fought in the North. Students learn about it in grades 4, 5 & high school #RI250

The learning never stops for Rhode Island's AP teachers! 🍎 📚 Last week, more than 90 educators from across the state came together for a week of AP professional development, strengthening their expertise, sharing best practices, and collaborating with colleagues!

The countdown continues to America's 250th! 🇺🇸 #DYK? During the American Revolution, Rhode Island women produced their own yarn instead of buying British imports, an act of resistance known as the "homespun" movement. Students learn about it in grades 4, 5, & high school. #RI250

5 days to go until America’s 250th! 🇺🇸 A key figure in the Continental Army was Nathanael Greene from Rhode Island. He was one of George Washington’s most trusted generals & helped turn the tide against British forces. Rhode Island students learn about him in high school. #RI250

Two weeks to go until America’s 250th! 🇺🇸 In 1778, RI passed a law allowing enslaved men to gain their freedom through military service, making the 1st Rhode Island Regiment a racially integrated military unit. RI students learn about it in grades 4, 5 and high school. #RI250
