Today is the first anniversary since Jody Gormley left this world. In some ways I can’t believe it’s 12 months, in others it feels longer. A month before he died, Jody sat down with Oisin & me on GAA Social podcast. There’s rarely a day I don’t meet a stranger, who mentions Jody. Most have never even met him. He was a special person. The way he came across that day was stunning. A unique man. My thoughts with Deirdre, Niamh Áine & James today. Damien & Eoin his brothers, Anita his sister and his lovely mum too. Trillick, Tyrone and all who knew him. There’s a little bit of him, that lasts with all of us. A fine human being, a legacy that’s special, but gone far too soon ❤️

Scotstown face Kilcoo in the Ulster SFC Club Final Saturday week. Last years SF clash was one of the strangest games I’ve ever attended.. The first 25mins was a tight controlled game of football, very similair to the ‘23 clash between the sides that Scotstown edged.

Newbridge deserve huge kudos, they died in their boots after many had their chances buried when Scotstown went 7 clear in the second half. You’d love to say they’ll be back, but the Derry SFC is a tough place to get out of, they may spend a few years rueing this loss.

A date with destiny awaits Scotstown. A chance to avenge last year’s annihilation v Kilcoo. An opportunity to capture the Ulster Title that has eluded them this decade. Their experience came through tonight. You can’t teach that.

What a titanic battle this evening in the Athletics Ground. Scotstown and Newbridge went the full distance. An Bhoth advance. A game that ebbed and flowed, showed all that was good about Ulster Club football. Quality. Tenacity. Big moments. It had it all.
