What if “the rules-based international order” was always code for: Americans build it, Americans pay for it, Americans bleed for it, and Europeans grade it? What if $36 trillion in debt looks a lot smaller the second you stop underwriting a continent that sneers at you in three languages? Why don't you lay the fault where it belongs? At the feet of Pierre Poilievre. One or two floor crossings might be considered a difference of opinion on party policy. 13 members crossing is a stampede for the lifeboats on the Titanic. It cannot be taken as anything other than a failure of Conservative Party leadership. The sooner the CPC realizes that, the sooner they can start working on actually presenting themselves as an alternative.

13 MPs crossing the floor after a minority election would indeed be totally anti-democratic. It would be way too far, an affront to the electorate, and the beginning of the end of Canada as a representative democracy. There would no longer be any argument that elections matter.
