@Personian829 They feel like different characters is the thing; if you revamp a cat as a better-drawn dog some ppl are gonna prefer the old design bc they feel like cat fit better. New demon’s great, but things that were compelling abt the old design simply aren’t present in the new one

I don’t understand people who say the BATIM Ink Demon design is better than BATDR because like this is the biggest glow up ever 😭

@ralvar_3 personally ive found it very freeing to embrace the idea that i can unironically enjoy "bad" or "cringy" stuff. Now I can listen w/ interest to critiques and go "oh that's really true, what a good point! I loved it tho lmao" instead of feeling insecure (I also loved Braid)

@PedigreeInDaMid I just feel like I'm wrong when most people dislike something I like and vice versa. Another example: The Royal Tanenbaums. Everybody loves it, but I don't. I get confirmation over and over again that I'm a Bad Taste Haver.

The commentary in the Braid remaster is a reminder Jonathan Blow is a genius. Most people say an idea once, but he manages to find five different ways to repeat himself every single minute

I’ve been an Art Director and I’m now CEO of a globally recognised art studio. And not a day goes by I don’t feel this way. Don’t let these feelings win. If you ever feel this way you can break the cycle by supporting another artist. Give feedback, share tools and tips, redline. This helps compound your own knowledge or even holds up a mirror to your strengths and weaknesses with greater fidelity. One of the best experiences for me was hiring a junior concept artist even though we were not looking for one. We were only hiring autonomous seniors. I was in a bit of a rut like this with my personal work but helping her helped me. It’s also okay to explore new styles and not finish anything, but it shouldn’t be because you weren’t immediately amazing at it and you were comparing to others. We’re all running our own race, nobody is in front of you 👍

I’ve recently been rewatching all of MLP and Applejack, being the element of honesty, is one of the members of the mane six who lies the MOST even in situations regarding the mane six’s safety she manages to lie (specifically thinking of the Halloween episode and apple maze)

@inkyMary But its a LOT for sure, especially with DCTL -- Buddy's narration and the fact that it's a thing he's literally writing is such a significant part of the novel that I immediately wondered how they'd handle those elements when the graphic novel was announced.

@inkyMary Adaption isn't 100% on the artist; a lot of that is gonna be on the writer. Someone needs to know the material Really Well and based on what we've seen I don't think the artist does; I think they're depending on the writer to Adapt it and they are drawing that script

Main thought about the DCTL graphic novel preview is: yeah, I've made designs like that when I was being paid by the page and expected to just throw in extra design work for free and I have a deadline and no time to scour the source material or really put my heart into the design

anyway, genuinely cannot wait to see how off sammy is gonna be in this lmao. will he be a mid non-design like norman or will he be conventionally handsome or will he get graphic novel dave miller vibes b/c hes an antagonist? will we get the fabled black hair sammy??? i cant wait

one more note: begging batim fans 2 think abt the plot of DCTL and realise why "maybe we will not make the creepy guy who dies at the end a black man in this" is perhaps a reasonable choice. like im a fan of poc norman headcanons too but pls recognise this would be a tough call!!
