I understand the decisions and your point that decentralized stablecoin supply is bounded by ETH/staked ETH market caps But I disagree that it would have been irrelevant. Even within those bounds, it still had a long way to go. It could have created a reflexive loop increasing demand for ETH. It may not have had the same explosive global growth as centralized stables, but it still could have been massive New teams are trying that path but it is even harder now with the later start
