Please don't do this for indie developers you love! The majority of indies have completely run out of budget by the time they hit launch. Supporting them when the game first releases is the only way you're going to get those QOL patches and post-launch content.

I kinda miss studying game art because for my job I don’t make anything beyond low poly pixel art / 2D, so I have little reason to sculpt, create shaders, or anything super cool Maybe I should start doing personal projects again

@guylygon for rest areas, personally I use the 70-30% rule most of the time. The idea is that 30% percent is filled with the main focus and details, and the remaining 70 percent is rest area, meaning surfaces with very low to none eye catching detail. Details are thoughtfully placed.

There's no right way to sculpt stylized, there's just different "right ways". You can have different looks from game to game. There is, however clearly right principles to know (edge thickness, rest areas, implied details etc) Ignoring all of them could lead to the "wrong way".
