I watch a ton of OHL hockey. Nearly as much as I watch the NHL. I have friends still buried in organizations, coaching, in the offices. I hear stories about these kids. And I'm telling you that nothing has changed my mind on a player as much as the stories I've been told about Aitcheson. I was lukewarm on him. I said the pick was good value but I saw him as a giant project in a draft that wasn't renown for its depth. But I was told things about Aitcheson. And when you watch the Barrie Colts this year - you can see what I've been told happening in real time. I've been told repeatedly that this kid is a leader everywhere on that squad. Off ice, on ice, in the gym. I've been told that his intensity, his snarl, has infected that squad and those kids look up to him. The Colts up and down the roster are extremely physical. They contest every puck, every pass, every inch of the wall. I still believe they are far from the most talented team but they are swarming KIT all over the place and just punishing them all over. Two years ago and this team was a losing squad. The transformation has been effort first all the way. Aitcheson is visbly a huge, huge part of that.

For the third time, I questioned the Immigration Minister on the cost of using hotel rooms in key economic zones for asylum claimants. Now we know that thousands of foreign students who were here fraudulently are claiming asylum, and the government has allowed municipalities to actually purchase hotels in Ottawa and Pickering for claimants. @LenaMetlegeDiab not only didn't seem to understand what was happening, but her Deputy Minister tried to rescue her from her own incompetence. She needs to be fired.

But now we've learned that this money didn't go to the victims at all. Instead, it went to nonprofits” Here are some examples - CA Native Vote Project: $100,000 for voter participation for Native Americans - Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE): $250,000 for programs prioritizing undocumented immigrants - Altadena Talks Foundation: $100,000 went to supported podcasts, including Toni Raines podcast - NAACP Pasadena: $100,000 political advocacy - Los Angeles Black Worker Center $550,000 to political advocacy organizations - Center for Applied Ecological Remediation: $500,000 for fungus/microbe/plant soil remediation projects Over $500,000 went to bonuses for nonprofit leaders and consultants

Today Conservatives showed up to work for veterans at the Standing Committee on Veterans Affairs, but the Liberals canceled the meeting. Last week as soon as the Liberals had their majority they shut down committees, including improperly adjourning the Veterans Affairs Committee. This week, they are shutting down ACVA by not meeting today and later this week ensuring the meeting is closed to the public without cameras to hide what they plan to do with their new majority. If the past week is any indication, what they plan to do won’t be in the interest of veterans.
