Blaming Dangote for cement price is like blaming a trader for increasing prices when the entire system forces it.

In all honesty, Aliko Dangote is trying for Nigeria. Call him a political tool if you want, but one fact remains: he is investing heavily in this country. From industries to infrastructure, his money is working here, creating jobs, boosting local production, and strengthening the economy. We can criticize influence and politics, yes, but we should also acknowledge impact. There are many others with the same level of political access and power who choose to invest their wealth abroad, developing foreign economies while Nigeria struggles. That contrast is important. Nation-building is not perfect, and the players involved won’t always be saints. But investing at home, at this scale, deserves recognition. Uchem kam kwuru

BUA is still in the same market today.
Have they slashed prices? No.
Why? Because the same HARSH government policies affect everyone.
Same with many other cement companies.
This isn’t about one company; it’s about the environment.
Let’s be honest:
Not only cement is expensive.
How much is sachet water today?
So why should cement be different?
Key factors driving the price up:
• Removal of fuel subsidy
• Floating of the naira
• Poor road infrastructure
• Insecurity
• High cost of energy and logistics
These are policy-driven issues. The government controls them, so let's hold the right people accountable.
And about that “cement is cheaper in neighboring countries” narrative…
That’s not always true. I’ve personally worked in Benin Republic where clients crossed into Nigeria to buy cement because it was cheaper.
