I’ve been reflecting on this, and the best advice I can give is just get out and talk to some gay people. Take a gay for a cuppa. Have a chat. Ignorance creates division, but we are all humans. There is no place for homophobia in the UK, just like there is no place for Islamophobia. Make bridges, not fences!

The low homicide rate in Palestine (mainly measured in the West Bank) breaks a lot of the feeble propaganda of a violent and aggressive society of “human animals”.
Literally one of the least violent societies in the world, half the rate of homicide in Israel, and and a fraction of the US.

There was an arson attack last night near the home of Birmingham Muslim activist.
Residents woke to find a car on their driveway had been torched and the fire was threatening to spread to their home.
Those responsible were caught on CCTV pouring petrol over the car parked outside the home.
We will not be identifying the victims at their request.

Jews and Sikhs have specific UK laws protecting their religion and ethnic status. Muslims have no such privileges in fact, Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act 2000 does the opposite. It disproportionately targets Muslims (88% according to Cambridge University’s Operation Insight study), allowing suspicionless stops, device seizures and detention without trial and also potentially months in remand, despite no crime committed giving them fewer rights than murder suspects. This is objectively the most discriminatory law in British statutes and a form of Jim Crow laws for Muslims. This is two-tier policing

Is this Christian logic now? Because by that standard:

I've had this thrown at me in so many replies so let me address it.
For me, and for the majority of British Muslims, Islam comes first. I know Brits will find that hard to fathom because they don't take religion seriously, but we do.
So if Islam comes first that means Islamic rules come first. And Islamic rules dictate that Muslims cannot partake in or promote LGBTQ lifestyles, alcohol and nightclubbing, all of which Sadiq Khan promoted yesterday fresh off the plane from Hajj.
Doing this directly contravenes Islamic law and endangers your relationship with God and your afterlife.
Now I agree that Sadiq Khan was elected to serve all Londoners and not just Muslims. And that is exactly why I have always been against Muslims taking high political office in the West. You will be constantly pressured to compromise your Islam and sometimes that pressure will become unbearable, so it's simply not worth it if you're a believing and practising Muslim.
If we need political allies in high places it's much better to have sympathetic non Muslim allies who we don't have to hold to an Islamic standard.
So ultimately it comes down to priorities. I believe that no Muslim should publicly partake in or promote anything that goes against Islam. What they do in their private lives is none of my business, but when they transgress in the public sphere we have the right to hold them to an Islamic standard according to what Allah has revealed.
