Az, like all states, must lower SNAP error rate or face big $$ penalties.
Az rate is 8.8% -- far lower than the % of ESA parents who have misused funds -- but it must be brought to 6 %
Otherwise, Az general fund faces $195.4M hit for SNAP benefits in 2028.

It’s honestly hilarious watching TPUSA twist themselves into knots trying to claim a win here.
Let’s be clear about how SRP elections work:
Only landowners can vote.
And the more land you own, the more votes you get.
This system has historically guaranteed a conservative board.
It should have been a slam dunk for them.
And yet… after all that?
After all the money and noise?
For the first time EVER, the SRP board will have a progressive majority.
Congrats, 🧻USA.

For those interested all of the sudden in SRP-- this was the outcome of the 2024 election in the footprint of the SRP voting districts: The only district Trump won was District 10 and even that district is considered a 50/50 area. 1,9 and 10 are the "most conservative" but really purple districts. Republicans winning in the SRP footprint and controlling 3 of the 4 boards and the President and Vice President is an unbelievable achievement given how much money and preparation they put into this election. They were exposed on their plan, predicted to win majorities on everything, win the presidency and they lost in a heavily blue area. Now, voters should be aware of this problem and fix it in future. SRP ratepayers should have more say in these elections than theyre currently given. (Remainder of Maricopa and Pinal county customers)

The only reason @12news obtained line-item spending on ESAs is because we sued @RealTomHorne and @AZTreasurerYee to get public records.
@AZTreasurerYee had released ESA records for 22-24, but stopped doing it -- thus, the lawsuit, which is ongoing.

If the Texas GOP loses its grip on the legislature there'll be lots of reasons. But a big & underappreciated one is school vouchers -- deeply unpopular w/ Dems and many conservatives. Irony here is that school choice lobby got its big prize but state may turn blue(r) as a result

@tcani @tomryanlaw I rent and don’t get a vote despite being an SRP customer for 26 years. I have owned two homes, my ex husband left and I have been forced to rent since. The owner of my home lives in CA and I have lived in it for 11 years, but get no vote! It needs to change.

This is why TPUSAs data guy talking about out performing Harris % in the “urban core” is coping bs. If you rent or live in an apt you didn't get a vote, the dude that owns your complex is the only one who got a vote & he'd get more votes than someone who owns a single family home

What’s even more wild is that SRP (which serves more than 1 million Arizonans) uses acreage-based voting: the more land you own = the more votes you win. Stacks the deck in favor of large landowners and against the little guy. Renters aren’t even eligible to vote.

@jeffreym_nelson @katiehobbs But CEOs managing that many people and buildings make millions. I don’t think Supts should? But I do think people have a misplaced idea of what they should make. Educators across the board make far less than their professional counterparts for equal schooling and experience.

@jeffreym_nelson @katiehobbs The AZ Legislature should fund our schools better than 48th in the nation. I can tell you that you should do some looking into charters if you so are so concerned about wage disparity and advocate for ALL publicly funded schools to have the same rules.
