There's not much that I find weirder in human history than people gaining celebrity status by neglecting themselves into extreme obesity. There's no legitimate reason to know who Lindy West is, and until today I didn’t. Society used to gawk at people even half her size as circus attractions for their absurdity. Hell, Homer Simpson was considered comically fat not long ago. Now we have pop-culture shows celebrating morbidly obese people doing mundane tasks. It’s lunacy! People are literally dying! There are more obesity-related casualties than starvation on the planet right now. Really let that sink in. We’re celebrating this as a progressive movement. Can anyone explain this to me?! How did we let it go this far?!
