When Iran’s messing with the Strait of Hormuz and countries like the Philippines are down to **45 days of fuel** with a national emergency declared, you don’t sit on your hands. $200B to protect global energy flows and deter bigger chaos isn’t waste — it’s basic national (and allied) security. Priorities matter, and right now securing oil lanes beats another domestic wishlist. Mario’s spot on calling this out.

Why it matters: Turkey gets ~14% of its gas from Iran. Flows are still stable for now thanks to Russia, Azerbaijan, and LNG. But replacements aren’t cheap.
