CRIME DIARY: NDLEA has arrested a 41-year-old Brazil-based businessman, Ikechukwu Abugu Oliver, for importing shirts and towels soaked with 6.10kg of liquid cocaine from the South American country into Nigeria. Abugu was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos upon arrival from Brazil via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The drug trafficker’s luggage was thoroughly searched by the NDLEA, leading to the discovery of 14 towels and shirts neatly packed in the luggage, all soaked in liquid cocaine, dried and well ironed. In his statement, the suspect, who hails from Igbo-Eze North in Enugu State, claimed he had lived for over 14 years in Brazil where he claimed he operates an African restaurant.

They were friends for 51 years, lived on the same street, and were both lecturers of the same age. That shows how deep their bond was, they literally did everything together. Condolences to Baba's family. I hope Bàbá Fatomilola handles this heavy loss well. Wishing him the best.

Dear Chinedu, Thank you for your feedback. I often see you guys using this curse repeatedly. But do you know that your curse can never come to pass? Let me explain why. Thunder cannot strike or fire anybody, for the simple reason that thunder is just a sound. Please fact-check me. Thunder is a noise. What can strike people is not thunder. It is lightning. Three months ago, I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro, which, as the tallest mountain on Earth (Everest is not a mountain), is one of the most lightning prone places on Earth. Not only was I at Kilimanjaro, but I went during the rainy season, when lightning occurs more often. Yet, here I am. We will have differences of opinions with many people throughout life. If we wish death on all of them, what sort of world would we have? Please think about it. Finally, other Nigerians are your brothers and sisters borne from the womb of one another Nigeria. Therefore, Chinedu, perhaps we can avoid slurs and derogatory words like the one you used on me and my ethnicity. Thanks again, and may God bless you. Reno Omokri Ambassador Designate to Mexico.

There is hardly anything more painful than seeing the Mogaji of your family climb through the Olubadan hierarchy, becoming High Chief and then pass away before becoming Olubadan. In Ibadan's unique succession system, that means a return to the starting point. The family must go back to producing a new Mogaji and begin the long journey all over again, hoping to re-enter the line of succession as quickly as circumstances permit. One of the realities that befell the families of Late High Chief Omowale Kuye & Late High Chief Sulaimon Omiyale, they were so close to the pinnacle, yet the crown was out of reach.

"I have been seeing of recent some social media giants in Nigeria going around trying to raise protests. Nobody is stopping anyone from protesting, but we should always remember the unintended consequences, because these protests might be hijacked and people might be k!ll£d or injûred. Many soldiers continue to bear the consequences of their service to our nation through their sacrifices after they are being insûlted by the same people they are protecting" — Minister of Defence, CG Christopher Musa (Rtd) x.com/ChuksEricE/sta
