@OurShallowState My high school English teacher told us to use “occurs when” over “is when” at all times. You are welcome.

In light of Trump's recent fixation on Jesus, the Pope, and getting into Heaven, accompanied by a string of political losses, polling in the toilet, Epstein stories, embarrassment in Iran, regime change IN HUNGARY, and a total inability to sleep - time to discuss a condition known as NARCISSISTIC MORTIFICATION.
Narcissistic Mortification is when a narcissist like Trump crosses over to a place where he sees visions of his own demise (thus 'getting into heaven'). Age and ill health play a role, but it's deeper than that.
The condition is brought on by extreme fear. What extreme fear? To a malignant narcissist, THE most extreme fear of all is ultimate irrevocable humiliation - like being exposed as a fraud, or pedophile-friendly, or being exposed by whatever Putin has on him; or losing one's grandiosity in such a manner that it never returns - like he just saw happen to his friend Orban.
In more psychological terms, narcissistic mortification is when one with a rigidly grandiose pathology sees his sense of self as exposed, defective or inferior. Trump the Infallible can't bear to see that. It was coined by Freud in his book Moses and Monotheism. It's described there as deep injuries to ego/self, triggered by one's own compulsiveness (getting outplayed in Iran), one's own lack of discretion (his sins with Epstein) and ONE'S OWN weaknesses (illness, cognitive loss). Grandiosity diminishes, leading to terror and disorientation (insomnia).
PS: There actually IS a wiki page for narcissistic mortification (which surprised me) and here's an interesting sentence from it, that I thought I'd echo here: Narcissistic Mortification is "the primitive terror of self-dissolution, triggered by the sudden exposure of one's sense of a defective self ... to a narcissist, it is death by embarrassment."

@JDVance You are an idiot
And you price it over Ave over again
The victor defines the terns
Not the loser
Loser
English

@YankeeGunner Fabs are attached to the idea of working njibg the league
The club is committed to winning the league
See the difference?
English

@JDVance You are such a fuck up you couldn’t even negotiate a peace agreement. You are an embarrassment. Go back to Hungry with your tail between your legs.
English

@willchamberlain Well, they told the aggressors to meet their demands and the dream team tolerant to fuck off
I fixed it for you
English

@YankeeGunner Our defense let us down today even more than our attacking play
English

People get hung up on messaging, mentality, “bottle” etc.
I’m not saying it doesn’t matter. But for me, more than managers, or tactics, or mentality or anything else, talent wins trophies. the most talented teams win stuff. And our attacking talent isn’t currently anywhere near the level.
In general, one of the strongest & fairest criticisms that I’ve heard about this current “project” has been the way we’ve approached attacking recruitment. I don’t think we’ve gotten it right after multiple attempts & I feel like that’s where we could fall short of our goals more than anything else
English

@RepLuna You support a rapist and pedophile in the Whitehouse
Best you sit down

@DarrenArsenal1 @4TheArsenal_ Pretty shit football
English

@timstillman_ @DarrenArsenal1 We are constantly playing in our own area and act surprised when team occupy that space
English

@DarrenArsenal1 In and of itself not a problem against a high pressing team, you’re trying to tempt them on, the question / criticism is much more what happens afterwards.
English

@timstillman_ Too generous
We CHOOSE to play around our penalty area
We CHOOSE to walk the ball up the field
We CHOOSE to make Raya our playmaker
We are pretty shit and this past month, we’ve been found out
English

Ultimately this is a tactical defeat not a psychological one imo- which I don’t think is ‘better’ than the more attractive psychological angle (in fact I think it’s worse) and to frame it that way discredits Bournemouth. For Arsenal, technical level needs to rise, without Odegaard and Merino not enough ball security under pressure and I’d wager we’ll see fixing that as a big focus in the summer (which obvs doesn’t help us now!)
English

@Alex_NFFC @TheAthleticFC Rugby does it properly
English

@TheAthleticFC Even simpler solution: VAR only checks what someone asks them to check
Onfield ref could say 'Something happened on my blind side, can you show me a replay please '
Or manager could use one of his very limited number of challenges to challenge a decision for a specific reason
English

The ball was bundled into the net at the far post and the visiting supporters went wild.
While the celebrations continued, I was sitting 136 miles away, in a dark corner of a TV studio in west London, fearing the worst.
As the video assistant referee (VAR), I had spotted three potential offences in the build-up.
As I worked through the checks, it felt like the walls were closing in, the darkness was intensifying and my mouth was getting drier while my heartbeat rose.
In 20 years as a referee on the pitch, I never felt the kind of pressure that goes with being a VAR.
Eventually, more than three minutes after the goal had been scored, I confirmed that it could stand. It had felt like a waste of everyone’s time, that a joyous and spontaneous moment had been ruined by a nerd desperate to find cause to wreak misery.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Referees are people too, and feel the pain inflicted by a video review system that is simply not fit for purpose.

@TheAthleticFC Proving that VAR exists to rule out goals for no good reason. The game is gone.

@AriFleischer @SantiagoAuFund How does Trump’s ass taste to you? Your tongue seems firmly planted.

After 11 years, you would think people would understand how Trump operates. Yes, it was blunt and to our American ears, over the top. It's Trump's crude way of speaking.
But it was also fluent Farsi. It's the one language the Iranian leaders understand.
It's the language of the Middle East. Trump wasn't speaking to us, he was speaking to Iran. Twenty-four hours before he said it, the Iranians opposed a cease fire. After he said it, they were for a ceasefire.
Btw, for 47 years we heard them chant "Death to America." Where were you then?
Michael McFaul@McFaul
While everyone has moved on, I remain deeply troubled by Trumps threat to wipe out an entire civilization. No American president has talked in such terms. No American president ever should.
