It's a good time to restate: Trump CANNOT and DOES NOT see beyond himself. He is NOT strategic - he is transactional. He is a walking talking "id." He only pivots from self-interest, and cannot shut up or stop, even when it serves his interest. He is a dangerous malignant narcissist, who is returning to power during cognitive decline, OWNED by disorders.

Once again, the way the press covers Trump makes it unnecessarily difficult to distill accurate takeaways from the recent trip to China. Allow me: Xi suggested the United States was a country in decline. Xi is known for speaking precisely. Why might he have said this? Because he sees it and he hears it! He sees Iran and Venezuela and the Greenland embarrassment, to name 3, and internal strife in the US, and morons like Hegseth, and Trump's polling at home. And - he hears what other leaders say, especially what Europe, and the Gulf states say. So, then Trump retorts that Xi "was referring to Biden when he spoke to decline" - and the media covered that brainless retort as being relevant, thus giving it life. If they felt they had to cover tat nonsensical remark, they should have simply added - "if that was what Xi meant, he would have said that, but he didn't and he is known for speaking precisely." How hard would that have been? Two real takeaways from China are - Xi believes the US under Trump is a nation in decline; and Xi warns the US not to interfere on whatever they choose to do in Taiwan. Trump is weak. Much of the rest is colored bubbles.

Trump's performance in China has been a unique, extraordinary and embarrassing combination of weakness, obsequiousness, lack of preparation, amateurism, and incompetence. It just seems normal because we've become desensitized by the constant circus.

@OurShallowState He may have serious health problems. But there's nothing abnormal or scary about a 79-year-old man going down steps carefully, watching where his feet are going.

Trump can no longer stand up straight. He either slouches or leans at an angle. He holds onto rails and podiums to steady his balance. He walks down steps slowly, staring at his own feet. He has a bulging backside. His ankles are gigantic. His hand looks necrotic. He's decaying.

@milan_elm Yes, I speak to this a lot. You're correct. It puts feeling before fact; belief before science. Very partisan/tribal and very prone to dopamine addiction.

Every foreign leader - ally, adversary or in-between, is light years smarter than Trump. They might not read or study psychology in a formal way, but they all know he has behavioral disorders. They know how badly he craves personal adulation. They know he is a quid pro quo factory. They know that under Trump, America's best interest is a subset of Trump's best interest. As President, he compromised us every single day, in every possible way, and China will be no exception.
