the thing that really gets me about all these guys is how much they want to *reduce* the classics while claiming to celebrate them. They want to transform the tragic heroes of antiquity into "role models" like they're GI fucking Joes.
Homer Pavlos@HomerPavlos

What we’re seeing on X these past few days is insane. > They’re trying like maniacs to convince you that Achilles is not a hero or a role model, even though he was the greatest role model in the West for 3,000 years. > They’re trying to convince you that he had a sexual relationship with his dear brotherly friend Patroclus, even though Homer says nothing of the sort. On the contrary, Homer mentions his relationships with women, states that Achilles has a son, Neoptolemus, and that at Patroclus’ funeral, Achilles and Briseis weep because he didn’t manage to marry them. That’s what Homer writes. > They’re trying to convince you that he shouldn’t be a role model for men because he was weak and a “cry baby”. This is being said by uneducated barbarians whose sources are the movie and secondary interpretations. They want you weak and disillusioned with classical studies. All these pseudo intellectuals have invaded the academic community of classical studies and archaeology and are trying to completely rewrite the facts in order to repel you. They want to fully control classical studies the same way they control art. Because if they control the Classics they will control the civilizational narrative. Don’t fall victim to their Marxist anti-Greek and anti-Western propaganda. Achilles was, is, and will always be the role model of a healthy man. Never forget that Alexander the Great slept with a copy of the Iliad (from Aristotle) under his pillow, along with his dagger. His role model was Achilles, who was also his ancestor on his mother’s side. Never forget that.

sukuna isn’t fragile about his masculinity. if you put a damn flower behind his ear, he wouldn’t even bat an eye. he’d probably say something mildly mocking or funny while casually basking in the sun with that flower still tucked there like it belongs. i mean, who exactly is going to comment on it? no one. bro genuinely does not give a fuck.

Achilles isn't the embodiment of "Greek and Roman male perfection", he's a pain in the ass emo kid who kills the most clearly heroic and sympathetic character in the story because his male lover wasn't as good a fighter as either of them. His name means "bringer of woe to the people" and he brings woe to both Greeks and Trojans.
Fenrir the Ice Wolf@Fenrirtheicewo1

You want me to believe this malnourished freak is supposed to be Achilles.... Achilles the Greek and Roman embodiment of masculine human perfection...? FUCK OFF Christopher Nolan, Fuck right off.

Romans and Greeks had substantially different ideas of what made a good man or "male perfection." Odysseus is clever. He's closer to the Greek ideal of the Classical period than Achilles. Achilles represents a kind of singular heroic figure who risks everything, he's more a figure of Archaic Greece or even Balkan epics about hajduks. Romans did not really value this kind of singular heroic figure, either. Achilles' abandonment of the Greek camp is almost the opposite of Roman moral values. Romans viewed the Trojans as their ancestors so they weren't likely to be incredibly sympathetic to Achilles, and Aeneas is a lot more reserved, pious, diligent.
Homunyan@adeptus_meguca

@ThatchEffendi @OkNameChecksOut The fact that he's emo doesn't change the fact that he's Greek and Roman male perfection.

That's all Mixtape was. Just a failed movie, trying to cash in on Video Games, because it's a more popular medium, than movies. This is how Hollywood is going to try to sell their garbage movies now, since people aren't going to theatres anymore. Selling interactive movies.
Cyael@Cyael

Did you know SCREENINGS of the Movie "game" Mixtape are set for a Theatrical release? y'know. as modern "indie" games by Billionaire Nepobabies do.

Korra probably survives the Hundred Year War physically better than Aang survives the modern era mentally. Korra was raised to fight. A teenage Korra dropped into the war era would likely become an absolute menace against the Fire Nation. But the bigger issue is whether Korra could handle the spiritual and emotional side of that era. The Hundred Year War needed diplomacy, restraint, and preserving hope just as much as raw power. Korra’s impatience might create huge problems politically. Meanwhile Aang in Korra’s era would struggle badly at first. The modern world is chaotic in a completely different way: - Equalist politics with Amon - Spiritual imbalance with Unavaatu - Anarchist philosophy from Zaheer - Militarized nationalism with Kuvira Aang’s peaceful nature would make him vulnerable to manipulation early on, especially against villains who attack ideology instead of just physically overpowering people. But long term? Aang probably adapts better emotionally and spiritually than Korra does. Once he understands the world, his empathy and wisdom would help stabilize things.
Emmanuel@emmywayne64

If Aang and Korra switched eras, who survives longer? Korra in the Hundred Year War or Aang dealing with Amon, Zaheer, Unavatuu, Kuvira and the modern world?
