@MickMills @LawrieHooper @Gedpower To fix the issue something has to break. Having said that, I don’t own any investment property and therefore it’s easy to punt stupid suggestions. We have to accept the boat has sailed a long time ago on this topic.

Checking out MHK’s declarations to stand this September. None of them appear serious on how to create extra £100m per year revenue or ACTUAL solutions for the housing crisis.

@Gedpower Liberal Vannin policy is to invest £100m into building public sector housing, which will let us broaden the access criteria, relieving pressure on public sector lists and the private rental market

@LawrieHooper I just can’t see the purpose or value of DfE getting involved in matters like AI. I just don’t understand or follow what the aim is. The technology is developing so quickly, how is sleepy government ever going to keep up?

@Derek_Flint1 @PaulWeatherall Also a good question! There appears to be a gap between what the Chief Minister announced and what is actually being done on the ground (what he announced was odd, what’s happening makes more sense)

@LawrieHooper The only certainty is that businesses will be putting prices up and lower earners near the min wage level will be asking for large pay increases as well.

Ms Edge voted against both my two previous attempts to bring in the minimum wage rise in two phases As well as voting to support the methodology tying the rise to median earnings which has led to this in the first place 🤦‍♂️
Manx Radio@ManxRadio

Should the upcoming rise in minimum wage be split into two phases? An MHK will ask Tynwald to support bringing in the 9.9 percent increase in stages when the court sits in January. #iom #news #ManxRadio manxradio.com/news/isle-of-m…

@Elaineh26823408 @MickMills @3FMradio Need to crash the housing market to reset it. It will never resolve itself otherwise. 90% tax on rental income, increase supply through sales, price falls, then people can buy. Those already in the market will have to share the pain to fix the problem.

@PanicInTS @VOTEJulieEdge @LawrieHooper Government has a real problem with accurate data. The Job Centre staff are basically admitting that they lack the basic competency to even make sure that the jobs they list actually exist and aren't duplicates or triplicates of jobs people have already applied for.

@VOTEJulieEdge @LawrieHooper If basic statistics like this can’t be reported correctly, what hope is there with anything else? It’s simply not acceptable and has been incorrectly reported for years.

@IOMVote2026 They have all promised change over the years and then get dragged into the machine. This is why I can’t see anything changing without radical reform.

Reading online reports the industry is getting very very angry with the lack of performance of government officers in this case. Hopefully this sets a tone for the next election. The people have had enough paying the salaries for a government that holds them in contempt #IOM2026
