#OnThisDay in 1870, Herbert George Ponting was born. Ponting was a professional photographer and is best known as the expedition photographer and cinematographer for Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s 'Terra Nova' expedition 1910-1913. During his time on the ice, Ponting captured some of the most enduring images of the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration. Scott’s vision of taking Antarctica to the world was to be fulfilled beyond his wildest expectations. Through his skill, tenacity and adaptation to the Antarctic conditions, Ponting opened everyone’s eyes, providing lessons to members of the expedition so the standard of photographic work on their scientific field parties was second to none. He even had his very own darkroom in the 'Terra Nova' hut at Cape Evans on Ross Island. Ponting returned from the 'Terra Nova' expedition after the first year with a catalogue of over 1700 negatives and ca. 25,000 feet worth of film. @LawrieHooper Presumably if MHKs were totally opposed to the idea, they wouldn't have agreed to license Orsted to investigate the possibility in the first place, or having seen the proposals, they could have declined to take it further.

The issue is MHKs publicly expressing an opinion on an application like this risks conflicting the very people who would have to make any decision - so they wouldn’t be able to be part of the decision process!

Last week Trump said he didn't need Britain's help because he'd already won this war. So we mustn't let him push the UK around now. Any decision on the deployment of our Armed Forces should be made in the UK's national interest and subject to a vote in Parliament.

DOI in my time were communicating with all the northern authorities, but I understand the decision to cease operating was made by RTC alone I suspect the reality is DOI aren’t communicating properly with anyone, but the Minister pretending they are is causing confusion!

The oversight of the Meat Plant was a problem just before the last general election. It is a telling indictment of the current administration that the situation has not changed in 5 years.
