@nuevo_tokyo Curvature continuity—once you've seen it, you can't ignore it. I just wonder why so few graphic designers use it. Limitations in the tools, or that CSS G2 doesn't support it?

As I turn 34, I wanted to look back and reflect on the last 18 years of my design journey. I started at 16 with Photoshop CS2 that I got from one of my dad’s friends. At the time, it was just a slightly more complicated MS Paint for me. I didn’t think much of it. But little by little, I started spending more and more time in it, and that is when my interest in design really began to grow. After a year or two, I knew this was something I wanted to do for real. I moved to Illustrator and started playing with type and illustration, but very quickly I wanted more depth. Fast forward to 2010/2011 and my first project in Cinema 4D R11. It felt like black magic back then, no YouTube tutorials and software that was completely different from the Adobe world. But it clicked, and I was blown away by what was possible. A year later came my first big project. A client found me on Behance, one of the largest telecom companies in Singapore. I wanted to charge $300. They thought I had missed a zero. In the end, I was paid $3,000. That single project changed everything. It gave me the confidence to take design seriously and fully commit to it. I bought a new iMac in 2011, and the rest is history. After all these years, I feel really grateful and I want to thank everyone who supported me along the way. I am also happy that I was able to inspire some younger designers to push 3D and do more creative work. The design industry is in a tough spot these days, but I truly believe the best is yet to come.

@evleaks @BrandonMiniman Your part was actually crucial. Without the HTC M9 story, the ODMs wouldn’t have reached out to me. 😁🤜🤛

Following an enjoyable visit by a former employer/colleague, @BrandonMiniman, I have a few new "classic" devices to play around with. From left to right, the HP Veer (running WebOS), Droid 2, and LG Flex. Like me, Brandon takes good care of his phones, so they are all in great shape.

@PhoneDesigner @printablescom It shows "Core One" in rewards, but the only one available for purchase says "Core One+", so I put it in my cart and the voucher code they provided worked!

@concept_central Ah, I see. So it’s better to start from scratch, otherwise YouTube’s algorithms would rank your channel as "less valuable." That makes sense.

I def could’ve, but some amount of my audience is not going to care about the new stuff I’m doing and I’d just be afraid of YouTube seeing that part of my audience as inactive. I’d rather have everyone that cares about the new videos in one place than have my old audience get recommended my videos and not click if that makes sense

The fact that Sony phones still exist feels like a glitch… and that’s a good thing. I like the ribbed/dotted textures.

We’re not gonna lie, the German title for the Project Hail Mary book and movie is kinda wild. It’s literally just The Astronaut.

@alpha4th @evleaks That's just how Twitter works. People talk past each other because they're attached to some belief. Whether it's based on facts or just strong opinions doesn't really matter. In the end, we're all just human beings who should look out for one another. Take care, buddy. :)

I'm gonna share something kinda personal, because I think it illustrates a very important point, one that's often overlooked by the average healthy person. As many of you are aware, I have a fairly advanced case of multiple sclerosis - I was diagnosed over 20 years ago but have probably had it since the very earliest days of college. It's one of these diseases that's expensive to manage even /with/ good insurance, because the copays and drug costs are so onerous. But there's expensive, and then there's unbelievably, ridiculously, jaw-droppingly costly - which is the only way to describe the price of my biannual infusions. Twice a year, for six hours, I sit in a comfortable recliner while medication is slow-dripped into my veins. If I'd had to guess the cost of these sessions, I probably would have thought they cost $5000 or so. That is, until I got a bill for my portion of the latest treatment, the amount that insurance declined to pay: it was for $10,000. And that was just the shortfall, the difference between what the procedure was billed at and what insurance was willing to contribute. As you can see in the screenshot, each of these six-hour sessions "retail" for well over one hundred thousand dollars. It's difficult to comprehend how anyone could even come close to affording this therapy on their own, with the out-of-pocket sum alone being the equivalent of several months salary for many folks. The US is the wealthiest country in the world, but many of us are not wealthy, and when people say that our healthcare system is broken, this is often what they mean. We need to figure out a better way to do things, to follow the lead of many other developed nations who've realized that medical care should be affordable and attainable for everyone. Instead, our politicians are slashing benefits for the struggling so that the already-wealthy can enjoy even larger tax breaks. It's not right.

@PhoneDesigner @evleaks I’d suggest a test: try living a couple of years in Spain, France or Greece. Try to use an ER in the evening.. let us know.
