coverage of the LA budget has really jumped the shark. this could be a moment to teach people about austerity and why it’s not a moral issue, but a political one (i.e., capital demands it, regardless of which party is in power) that can be overcome. yet this is what we get 😔😢.

BREAKING: Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass demanded her Fire Department make an extra $49 million of budget cuts a week before the fires, per the Daily Mail. The extra cuts, requested just days before fires broke out, would have shut down 16 fire stations.

Mayor Bass left Saturday for Ghana and the fires started Tuesday. Yes, she cut budget the fire department budget by 2% by not hiring for the non-critical vacancies.

CA, and especially LA, is controlled by Democrats. THEY are responsible. No more passing the buck. Our Mayor, who was in Ghana as fires exploded in our city, cut the fire budget by $17 million. Endless amounts of money funneled to bullshit scammer homeless nonprofits. We’re the highest taxed yet we have encampments and squalor everywhere. Even worse, we don’t have enough firefighters to respond to the absolute disaster we’re experiencing right now. Rather than conserve the record rain we got last year, we just drained it into the ocean. We are a failing city run by a sick excuse for local government. You want to radicalize people against the modern Democratic Party? Send them to LA.

@cjpearson That was the Kern County Fire Department, not the Governor. Also the fire truck was retired from service prior to the donation. It was a part of a larger nonprofit effort to gather used firefighting equipment to send to Ukraine

The Exit Polls are a survey with sampling bias and large margins of error. Our analysis of actual precinct data reveals Latino vote was about 5-7 pts less Dem than 2020 but still well over 60% for Harris, in some instances 67% or 70% in favor of Harris.

An important insight. Some people are saying hierarchical values concerning race didnt matter this election because non whites are shifting toward trump, but non whites can hold these attitudes too in a way that shapes their vote.
