The Republican Senate needs to honor the nearly 200,000 lives we’ve lost & do everything in its power to prevent further losses. They need to pass the #HeroesAct, which we passed months ago, and they need to pass it now.

Louisiana Congressman-Elect Luke Letlow has died after contracting COVID, I’m told. Letlow was days away from being sworn in as a member of Congress. He was only 41 years old and leaves behind a wife and two young children.

I voted for this compromise bill because it provides much needed aid to small businesses & critical funding to distribute life-saving vaccines.
But let me be clear, because of Republican indifference, it falls extremely short of what I believe struggling families in #FL26 need.

Now it's the end of the year, people & businesses have been crushed by COVID, & when Rs finally decide to act, they slash aid for those hurting the most.
If you think gov't is dysfunctional, I can't blame you. But you need to know who's responsible for the dysfunction: the GOP.

In May, @HouseDemocrats passed the HEROES Act to help people struggling with the pandemic. Senate Republicans and the White House did nothing.
In July, we again did our jobs and passed bills to fund the government. Senate Rs ignored their deadline and, wait for it, did nothing.

I will never forget the moment 8 years ago when I heard that 20 children and 6 educators had been murdered in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
My heart shattered.
