As Vice Chair of the @financialcmte Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, I traveled to Little Rock, Arkansas, with my colleagues to hold a field hearing examining the failures of the Little Rock Housing Authority. We heard firsthand how years of mismanagement and weak accountability led to millions of taxpayer dollars being mishandled and families being left in uncertain housing situations. Oversight like this is critical to making sure federal programs work for the people they’re meant to serve.

They would throw the president a birthday party at the expense of the housing authority. They were driving around in housing authority vehicles. Some things like pest control and appliances that were missing ended up in their homes, friends’ homes. They treated it like it was their business, is what they were doing.” 📺⬇️

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to visit James Tool Machine and Engineering in Morganton, a family-owned manufacturer that has been operating since 1987. Their team of about 150 employees produces precision tools and parts used in industries ranging from aerospace and automotive to national defense. It is always encouraging to see the hardworking folks who keep manufacturing strong here in North Carolina.

Owning a home is a fundamental part of the American Dream. Unfortunately, Democrat policies have put home ownership out of reach for too many Americans - driving up interest rates and creating regulatory hurdles that block construction of new homes. That’s why I hosted a roundtable with @SecretaryTurner, @RepTimMooreNC, lenders, home builders and realtors to discuss ways to lower home costs, build more homes and let more North Carolinians live the American dream.

I was honored to join HUD @SecretaryTurner in Charlotte today for a roundtable on housing affordability with Michael Whatley, the NC Home Builders Association, and other leaders. President Trump, HUD, and House Republicans are working together on policies to make first-time homeownership more affordable and expand housing supply. We must put the American Dream back within reach for hardworking families across North Carolina.

Senator Markwayne Mullin has been a fighter for the American people, and he'll do a great job as Secretary of DHS. I'll be requesting an immediate review of all pending FEMA funds for Hurricane Helene recovery, and I look forward to working with him upon his confirmation.

I voted to release these files. It's pretty simple: NO MORE taxpayer-funded cover-ups.
