“Songwriter” is an interesting thing to evaluate. I’ll listen to a song by US Maple and cannot believe how it unfurls, resolves, feels loose, tight, splotchy, complete. Songwriting is about form as much as it is about vocal delivery and lyrics. It’s why Joni is the best.
