Today, I met my dad’s friend on the street. I honestly didn’t recognize him; no one looks the same after a year of genocide. I asked him how he had been doing. He said he had four sons, and one after another, they were killed over the span of a year. His last son and wife were killed last month. Now, he sleeps on the streets with no family. A vibrant man who once owned a house, a car, and a business is now deprived of everything, even his family.

Today entering Gaza City. The ruins of life. A donkey laying dead attached to a cart with someone’s possessions. Clusters of people crossing to the South, with too much to walk with under the sun and given the length of the journey. A man carrying a white flag in front of his family. Women about to collapse, dragging bags over the ground, walking backwards, stopping and closing their eyes. A man on the ground in underwear, with soldiers near the checkpoint. A woman presumably crossing with him, stalled, distraught, in desperation. They passed by these ruins. #Gaza #CeasefireNOW

Gaza: absolutely heartbreaking to meet my NRC colleagues here, who have been through so much.
One of them had 126 relatives killed, in a single Israeli attack, in Beit Lahia. Cousins, nieces, children... killed.
Such attacks are the definition of disproportionate warfare.

Unpopular opinion but social media sites are so egregiously unsafe and tech companies have dragged their feet on child protection for so long - I don’t think we can justify letting children onto these sites any more.

Returning to Gaza now, I see destruction that defies belief, from Rafah, via Khan Yunis, to Gaza City.
This is destruction of an entire society of more than 2 million people, in a densely populated, small, confined territory.
This is in no way “self-defence.”

Shortly after the @WHO-led mission to Kamal Adwan Hospital yesterday, the facility's third floor was reportedly hit again, injuring six children who are patients there. One child sustained a critical injury. Water tanks were damaged. Heavy bombardment persisted very close to the hospital, including when WHO was delivering aid.
It is appalling that hospitals in #Gaza continue to be attacked, patients continue to be harmed, and health workers and humanitarians continue to work under life-threatening conditions.

The hits just keep coming: ABS says average loan in Oz has hit a new high of $642.1k in Sept (up 7.2% over year). NSW at $779k (but shy of its record). However, Qld hit a new high of $620k (up 15.2% over year) and WA back at $559k to be up 17.6% over year.

Using bulldozers, Israeli Forces severely damaged today (Thursday) the @UNRWA office in the Nur Shams Camp, north of the #WestBank.
The office can no longer be used.
It was the hub to deliver basic services to more than 14,000 Palestine Refugees in the camp, including learning for children, health, sanitation & social protection.
During the Israeli military operation, roads, water + electricity networks were also destroyed in the camp.
Once again, United Nations facilities are being routinely disregarded while they must be protected at all times, including in times of conflict.
