How babus harm Indian Engineers: I ran a US based startup. My engineering team was in India. Not in Bangalore or Delhi, but scattered across small towns and villages around UP/Bihar/Assam. They were some of the best engineers I have worked with anywhere. The only thing they lacked was the ability to speak English like someone who went to a Delhi private school. That one accident of birth kept them off the rosters of every shiny startup. I turned that into an advantage. I go find them. And I pay them exactly what an English-speaking engineer in Bangalore would get, without making them move. Same code, same salary. English fluency was never the skill I was hiring for. Now I wanted to give them what my US team members had: ownership. A real piece of what they were building. For a young dude from a village in Gonda or Chapra, that can be generational, life-changing money when we exit. But I could’t. The moment an Indian employee exercise their options (convert them to shares), without selling anything they get taxed on the paper gain as salary (I have heard it could be as high as 42%). For a private company, no buyer, no liquidity, no cash. But they get slapped with a tax bill, sometimes larger than their salary, on money they haven't earned. So, if I gave them equity, the choice I wd have forced on those engineers was: pay lakhs out of pocket for shares they can't sell, or give up the equity. In the US employees pay nothing until they sell, and if they hold long enough, they may pay almost nothing at all (federal). I have heard that in India , there is a "deferral" now. But if my info is correct, it covers ~2% of startups. Like most other startups, mine wont qualify. The fix is one line: tax the shares when they are sold, not when they are bought. Every developed country does it. India could do it tomorrow but it does not. Why? Due to babus (not Nirmala S).

We live in a nice township in Chennai, and our neighbours are nice people… till the time they aren’t. Recently, when Rekha and I had gone for a morning walk, an elderly couple stopped us and accused me of cheating on Rekha. Nothing like a light allegation to warm up before your walk. We knew the couple - they lived on the second floor of the block right next to ours, and since we were also on the second floor, we had a direct line of sight into each other's living rooms. Basically, we don’t have neighbours. We have CCTV. Pointing at me, the old lady said, “This man here is not good for you. I have seen him with another woman.” Rekha gave me a stare. I shrugged my shoulders and said, “I promise… no! Also… I don’t even have that kind of energy.” My wife turned towards the lady and asked, “Where did you see him, aunty?” “In your own living room - he was holding her close, caressing her back, and also kissing her,” the lady continued. Now this angered me. If at all I was going to cheat, I knew it wouldn’t be in my house. I was smarter than that. I can bear all insults, but being considered dumb is unbearable. Rekha turned towards me and asked, “Is aunty saying the truth? Who is she, Rajan?” “I don’t know… let’s ask her,” I shot back. After all, she seemed to know more about this affair than I did. At this point, even I was curious to meet this woman. My neighbour aunty was unstoppable. “Yesterday, early in the morning, I saw your husband hugging a much younger woman in the living room.” This surprised Rekha. “Aunty, I was at home at that time. Besides the two of us, there was nobody in the house.” I stayed silent. Life has taught me that when you are being accused, it is best to limit your words. “But I saw him holding her close, caressing her hair, and even kissing her,” the aunty continued. Now I knew it was my time to step in. “Was it around 5:30 am yesterday?” “Yes, exactly! So you agree?” the old lady enquired. “Ohh aunty, you are mistaken. Rekha was stepping out for a walk, and I just hugged and kissed her for a bit before she left.” There was a bit of silence. A smile lit up Rekha’s face. Now it was my wife’s turn. She held the aunty’s hands and said, “The younger-looking lady you saw in our living room was me. Don’t worry - Rajan was just hugging and kissing me.” The aunty looked at us, clearly unconvinced. Then she got irritated for not having an impact. She started to leave, but not before muttering, “Liars! Which 50-year-old man kisses his own wife?!” As she walked away, her husband followed quietly behind her… like a man who had accepted his reality. Because clearly, in some houses… kissing your wife is a forgotten art.

I was talking with an NRI friend. Not rich. His 2 years old daughter suffered skull fracture due to fall. Local hospital transferred her promptly helicopter to the tertiary Children’s hospital in major city. (Imagine a middle class kid air transferred from Merath to National Children’s hospital in Delhi without any worry for cost). Thats what we should be aiming for. But Same NRIs will tell you how health care in India is the best because they could get X-ray of their bruised Pinky finger immediately in posh hospital in India. Don’t listen to them.

Dr. Deepessh Divaakaran (Dr. DD)
I told you this three weeks ago. Nobody believed it. Now read what happened. May 23, 2026. Marco Rubio skipped New Delhi. Flew straight to Kolkata. Walked into the Missionaries of Charity headquarters. I said it was a message. Not a prayer. The message was for India. Do not touch our assets. Washington heard India's FCRA Amendment Bill. The bill that said: if a foreign-funded NGO loses its licence, India takes the assets. Schools. Hospitals. Hostels. Children's homes. Permanently. That bill shook something loose. The fight is on. It will get murkier. It will get uglier. Strap your belt. This is not a policy dispute. This is a civilizational fight. And India is ready.
Dr. Deepessh Divaakaran (Dr. DD)@md_deepesh

Marco Rubio landed in India. And went straight to Kolkata. Not Delhi. Not South Block. Not Parliament. Missionaries of Charity. That is where the story begins. I started digging. And the deeper I went, the darker it became. May 23, 2026. Kolkata. The US Secretary of State arrived. Skipped the capital. Went directly to Mother Teresa’s order. 754 facilities. 138 countries. 5,000 nuns. All controlled from one address. Vatican City. Not an Indian bishop. Not a local church. Directly to the Pope. People call this charity. States study it differently. Because networks matter. Especially old ones. Now the part most media avoids. Former member Susan Shields testified under oath. Dying patients were secretly baptized. A Hindu on a hospital bed. A wet cloth on the forehead. A whispered prayer. He thought she was easing pain. She was changing faith. Then came Ranchi. 2018. A nun arrested. Infants allegedly sold from a shelter. India ordered inspections nationwide. Then silence. 2021. Gujarat. Police found girls allegedly forced to wear crosses. Forced Bible readings. Then December 25, 2021. India cancelled MoC’s FCRA licence. “Adverse inputs,” they said. No details given. 13 days later, the licence returned. No explanation. Sometimes silence speaks louder than press conferences. Now zoom out. 1975. The US Senate Church Committee. Congressional records confirmed it. CIA used missionaries as intelligence assets. President Ford publicly acknowledged it. Think about the advantages. Remote access. Deep trust. Foreign money flows. Access to vulnerable populations. Perfect deniability. And then comes Kolkata. Former capital of British India. Old nerve centre of imperial intelligence. The oldest US Consulate in India sits there. Established in 1792. Empires change flags. Networks rarely disappear. Now comes the timing nobody should ignore. March 25, 2026. India introduced the FCRA Amendment Bill. Eight weeks before Rubio landed. One clause disturbed many people. Including Langley HQ. If an NGO loses its foreign funding licence, India could permanently seize its assets. Schools. Hospitals. Shelters. Hostels. Everything built on Indian soil with foreign money. Transferred to Bharat. Not India. Missionaries of Charity alone declared, $13 million in foreign donations, in a single year. Declared. Meanwhile, 21,933 NGOs had already lost FCRA licences. Over 70% reportedly Christian-run. Then suddenly, the bill was deferred. Not withdrawn. Deferred. Waiting. Then Rubio arrived in Kolkata. The meeting was not for the nuns. The message was for New Delhi. Do not touch strategic networks. Do not touch institutional assets. Because this stops being “charity”, the moment geopolitics enters the room. India is now fighting a much older battle. Who funds influence? Who builds narratives? Who owns long-term loyalty networks? That story is far from over.

Unfortunately, the president of our country, for whom we voted and elected him to the position, uses such inhuman and undignified language. Trump's poor grandpa ran away from the Kingdom of Bavaria with no substantial capital or family wealth, without serving in their army. Grandpa, in fact, worked as a barber's apprentice shortly upon arrival. His mother was a domestic help. Nothing wrong with either person, profession, or pursuit of financial independence to make their lives better. HOWEVER, the white descendant of these people who had a humble background dares to look down upon others and call others "people from third-world countries". It is incredible to witness such a pathetic person insulting others. America's decline is not a future event. It has begun. It's a shame.

During a dangerous ice storm in North Carolina, gas station owner Hitesh Patel was supposed to close at 10 p.m. Instead, he kept his store open all night so stranded travelers would have a warm and safe place to stay. Among those sheltering inside were a young mother traveling with four children and other motorists who could no longer safely drive on the icy roads. One traveler later shared the story online, saying they would have been freezing in their car if not for Patel's kindness. Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference are the ones who quietly choose to help when others need it most

Reading Dwarkesh’s story makes my blood boil. He came to America as a child. Grew up here. Went to school here. Spoke like every other American kid. Dreamed like every other American kid. Yet at 21, the country he called home was prepared to tell him: “Thanks for playing. Back to India.” Not because he broke the law. Not because his family cut corners. Not because they entered illegally. They did everything exactly the way the government asked them to. For years. The cruelty is that neither party seemed interested in fixing it. The Biden administration could have provided relief for aging-out dependents while they waited in endless green card backlogs. At minimum, work authorization and protection from falling off a legal cliff after spending their entire childhood in America. Instead, thousands of these kids were left in limbo. The Trump administration hasn’t been much better. More paperwork. More biometrics. More bureaucracy. More delays. People literally running out of status while waiting for the government to process forms the government itself required. Somewhere tonight there’s another kid just like Dwarkesh sitting in a bedroom wondering whether their future depends on a lottery ticket, a processing delay, or a bureaucratic technicality. That’s insanity. America spends billions trying to attract talent from around the world, then turns around and tells the children who grew up here legally that they might have to leave the only country they’ve ever known. There are thousands of future founders, engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs trapped in that pipeline right now. We only know Dwarkesh’s name because he made it through. We have no idea how many others we lost along the way.
Dwarkesh Patel@dwarkesh_sp

My family moved to the US when I was 8, but by the time I turned 20, my dad was still on an H1B (waiting to get processed for a green card). Once I turned 21, I would age out as his dependent, despite the fact that I basically grew up in the US. I thought I'd have to become a code monkey after college, and even that only if I was lucky enough to win the H1B lottery. Otherwise, back to India. I had become a huge fan of @paulg's essays in college. I was actually depressed that my desire to start a startup or do something entrepreneurial was basically hopeless. Working on the promising podcast I was doing as a side project? A beyond impossible pipe dream. Even after 9 years, my dad wasn't able to get a green card - and the lines were only getting longer over time. I figured I'd be an old man before I could quit some FANG job and build my own thing. By some miracle, COVID travel restrictions cleared out the lines, and I got my green card literally months before I would have aged out. If not for this unbelievable coincidence, I would not be hosting the podcast. In the best case, I would be shifting pixels around in the 3rd sub-sub-menu of some big tech software. I'm incredibly grateful I made it through. But it's unconscionable that we put the kids of high skilled immigrants through all this anxiety, and in many cases make them repeat the nerve-racking indentured life trajectory that they had to watch their parents go through.

If understanding Dharma, the ancient philosophical framework of pluralism & ethics that kept this civilization alive for 1000s of yrs, makes me a Sanghi, then I am a Sanghi. If defending an industry that single-handedly pulled the Indian middle class into global relevance, accounts for ~7.5% of India's GDP & created millions of white collar jobs when our socialist economic policies failed us, makes me a Sanghi, then I am a Sanghi. But I will still respect you & your right to disagree. Because unlike the rigid echo chambers of the internet, my heritage teaches me that a difference of opinion does not require a loss of dignity, & this also makes me a Sanghi. 🙏🙏

🚨🇨🇦 Why does Canada suddenly have two identities? Are we planning to rename the country Khalistan next? What even is Khalistan? A made-up fantasy that never existed? Why let these extremists tear Indian flags outside a Hindu temple, intimidate worshippers, block Canadian roads, and wreck our diplomatic ties with India? Why are Khalistani activists deciding Canada’s foreign policy? Have our leaders completely surrendered? This video is unacceptable. Time to enforce Canadian law.
Allen Hampton@Hamp_Allen

🚨🇨🇦 Has Canada’s name quietly been changed to Khalistan? Khalistan doesn’t exist on any map. Yet Khalistani flags are everywhere in Canada, while Khalistanis openly display assault rifles & handguns, chilling in front of a giant Khalistan flag. If these people are from another country, where exactly? And why is the Canadian government allowing public displays of separatist extremism and firearms that would land any regular Canadian in serious trouble?

🚨#Khalistani Protesters Violently March Outside Lakshmi Narayan Mandir in Surrey with Separatist Flags When will the Canadian government take real action against Khalistani extremists who are turning public streets in Surrey, BC, into zones of intimidation? On June 14, 2026, SFJ-linked protesters conducted a provocative road march with #Khalistan flags directly in front of the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir. They tore up the Indian flag at a place of worship while accusing temple members of celebrating the killing of #HardeepSinghNijjar. Why are violent, disruptive protests targeting Hindu temples & blocking Canadian roads still being tolerated — especially after Canada’s own CSIS intelligence report identified Canada-based Khalistani extremist networks as an ongoing national security threat? #cdnpoli

The US and India are not comparable when we measure GDP growth in dollar terms — it's apples to oranges. The US can print its own currency (the global reserve currency). A large part of its nominal GDP growth often comes from increased government spending, stimulus, and debt. During COVID, the Fed massively expanded the money supply — widely cited figures show roughly 40% of all dollars in existence were created during that period — even as large sections of the economy were locked down and production was disrupted. Stimulus payments and spending still got counted in GDP.India cannot print dollars. Any growth in India's GDP measured in USD has to be earned through exports of goods and services, remittances, or foreign investment inflows. A weaker rupee actually helps here by making Indian exports more competitive in global markets.
