Community-led streetscape improvements at 40th & Walnut made this area safer for pedestrians! The project includes: • New stop signs 🛑 • Crosswalks 👟 • 1,400 square feet of reclaimed asphalt for landscaping (which helps slow down traffic) 🌳🚘

@JimmyFitzner We are aware of the rush hour back ups… The blinking red lights are an experiment in an “observation phase”, soon Public Works (hopefully with the neighborhood’s input) will decide whether these should stay or revert back to normal operations.

12th & Benton: Gotta say I was wrong about the 4 way stop helping congestion, it's much worse now. Traffic for most of the day is regularly backed up for three blocks in both directions. Pic shows traffic all the way to Truman Rd. Was this the intent @StreetSmartsDB?

This intersection, 12th and Benton in KCMO, located one block from an exit and on ramp of a major interstate, recorded 18 crashes in 2018… What if we told you we could drastically improve safety and radically enhance the aesthetics of the intersection for $25,000?
