Since many of you are very interested in knowing: how much money I lost on my Dubai properties?
You can check it yourself:-
Step 1: Go to a platform like Bayut
Step 2: Open Vera Residences, Business Bay (this is where I own my properties)
Step 3: Check the last transacted price/you can also check listings
I had bought my units at 1.4Mn AED (2 bedroom)
So the answer to how much money I lost by investing in Dubai? The answer is 0 as of now.

@DivaJain2 This is really shoddy comment which lacks any data. Korea has no real AI plays? What is SK Hynix and Samsung electronics ? Do they make light bulbs ? Europe is equally exposed to oil shocks caused by west Asian crisis ? From where do u get your information? Agenda much ?

This is really shoddy analysis. There are no real AI plays in Japan, Korea, Europe etc.
All are equally or more exposed to geopolitical/oil shocks compared to India.
Desi Finbros should not couch personal agendas as macro analysis.

Asked someone from the industry whether foreign investors are still interested in allocating to India. The TLDR: Interest has pretty much died out. India is seen as geopolitically exposed, especially to an oil shock. There are no real AI plays. Valuations are rich. And the rupee situation doesn't help. On top of that, investors who were sitting on gains have taken money off the table and are now looking at markets like Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Europe etc instead. He also pointed out that our LTCG/STCG structure and the increase in STT have made India less attractive compared to other markets that are seeing inflows. If we need to attract FPIs back, and we do, fixing this feels like pretty low-hanging fruit.

An entire generation was told to save in rupees, invest in Nifty & trust India's growth story.
The rupee is now at 94. Portfolio hasn't moved in 3 years. Oil prices are surging & India imports more than 80% of its oil.
This is the compounding they were talking about.

There are so many, so many dumb citizens in India, while forgetting our own internal issues. They have made it about fall of UAE, totally disregarding the fact that UAE is one of the India's Ally.

• Free shipping and insurance
• 60 day credit period
• Payments accepted in ₹ instead of dollars
All of these benefits disappeared.

Seeing big handles mock Dubai as “tax-free” and saying “this is what tax-free gives you” is in very bad taste, especially when the UAE is facing attacks during a holy month.
Reducing a complex geopolitical moment to a tax slogan is not analysis; it’s opportunism. A nation under pressure deserves basic decency, not cheap point-scoring.
Don’t carry the cockroach mindset of waiting in the dark for others to fail. Stability anywhere in the world is hard-earned. If you can’t offer empathy, at least offer silence because cheering instability today doesn’t make anyone stronger tomorrow.
