Why have the Lakers allowed Houston back in the series?
Heliocentric offenses don’t work in 2026; in fact, they haven’t worked for a decade. Bron ball may be nostalgic, but this Rockets team without KD is a cusp lottery team.
Offense wins championships.
Lakers:
24 APG
19.0 TO/game
Last in 3PA/game in the postseason
3rd last in ORB
Lebron:
30.3% Usage
18.3 TOV%
MOST IMPORTANTLY they are last in FGA/game, by a wide margin, at 73.4.
The foundation of any offense is being able to shoot the ball enough times. This comes through total possessions- TO%, OBoard%, Pace, tilted 3PA/shot quality.
The Lakers have to flip the script on 2 of these categories going forward.
If i had to guess.. i think the Rondo hire is pretty much done and the Pels are likely doing due diligence filling out his staff while working through a deal!!
@thesoulman57 No way. Rondo needs more experience. The Pels need an uncle/ mentor type who's played and done his sentence coaching all over the different leagues. Darv is their guy.
The Rockets recently upgraded Kevin Durant from OUT to DOUBTFUL for Game 6 tomorrow night against the Lakers.
He isn’t expected to play, but he has not officially been ruled out quite yet.
@AustinThreeves JJ is a complete dud of a coach. He's incapable of ever delivering a championship to LA. Kick him down the road along with Pelinka. Mr Walter, let's get real !
Haven’t been impressed with JJ at all this series with the offense.
And when you SEE the offense has struggled all series long, and SOMEONE is shooting 0/4 and has 1 point and who does NOT defend, should not have 31 minutes in a playoff game.
@TheAthleticNBA@eric_nehm Rondo is not ready yet. Needs more experience. Not everyone goes from podcaster to head coach of the Lakers without even coaching a local rec game.
Rajon Rondo made a name for himself as a coaching associate with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Is he ready for a head coaching opportunity in the NBA?
@eric_nehm has the latest on Rondo’s journey to becoming a head coach candidate:

Something that needs to be talked about….
JJ Reddick has to find ways to get shooters better looks in the half court set
The Lakers made there first 3s in the 2nd half with 4 mins in the 4th.
OMGoodness, JJ didn't have our guys ready tonight.
Interjecting AR into the mix nullified Kennard's productivity. JJ has run our starter into the ground. JJ missed on many in- game adjustments and proper subbing. I can't take 4 more years of this clown.
@PurpGoldLakers Reviewing the substitution patterns after a loss is a sound procedure. Making the proper in- game substitutions, immediately as needed, is a sign of a championship coach.
Mr Walter, make the move.
Go Lakers !
“Again, another period in the second quarter where we just turned the ball over — you’ve got to give them a lot of credit, they made a shot tonight. Including some shots from guys that don’t normally make threes —
We just couldn’t make shots. Missed some layups. Certainly had some good looks from three that didn’t go down.
We’ll take a look at the whole process and take a look at the substitution patterns and figure out where we can be better in game six.”
JJ Redick on tonight’s performance
@melissarohlin JJ's greatest accomplishment will be buying a bus ticket and heading back to the Hamptons with all of his blue blood friends.
Go Lakers !
@LALMuse@MikeAScotto It's about time. Get rid of Pelinka and JJ and win a chip instead of treading water.
Go Lakers ! Let's become a serious contender again.
🚨 The Lakers are looking to expand their front office staff by adding at least one Assistant GM and another potential high-ranking role.
