@BentleyAudrey No stoned means death by trowing stones, in those days there were no bullets they used stones.

@kangadac @medus4_cdc My favorite thing at conferences has always been going to the occasional private vendor dinner where they just let you chat with the other interesting folks they’ve invited. I despise screaming over each other in a noisy crowded bar!

@medus4_cdc At tech conferences, I want meetups at a quiet place where I can have a great conversation, not yelling, “WHAT’S THE LATEST WITH KUBERNETES?” “WE’RE NOT DOING ANYTHING WITH CYBERNETICS?!” over blaring, half-assed techno in a crowded restaurant.

Hi can we start normalize having concerts and parties and raves that get going at 5 pm? Because I am FAR TOO OLD FOR “doors open at 10, people show up at midnight” stuff

@AlyssaM_InfoSec But for real why would anyone even think wearing some kind of headset while controlling a one ton death box hurtling down the road at 70 MPH is a remotely good idea?

@UK_Daniel_Card I think when we build our processes and controls we should always steal the best part of zero trust - assume compromise! People are going to do dumb shit, and that’s fine because we’re all people over here in the ivory tower of infosec too.

Am I the only one who when they build an enterprise security model that now doesn’t care so much about someone getting phished?

A goal of every security incident should be to never have to run that same exact incident again. How do you post mortem well enough to make that happen?

Tonight we made a teriyaki chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and @momofuku tingly wavy noodles. Was delicious and healthy! Chicken recipe: tiktok.com/t/ZT8gBHXwY/

Using AI art for promoting your very serious project or career just seems so lazy. The promotional materials are not cohesive. It doesn’t tell a story. There’s no real thought or direction. It’s not provoking. And it’s just flat out tacky when you have the money for real art.

@d0rkph0enix And my hot take here is that cybersecurity is such a huge field that there is not a single technical skill that everyone must have to do valuable work in the field. You can even do valuable GRC work and not even touch a computer!

@d0rkph0enix As an application security engineer with an expectation to be hands on, I code relatively often. In my last AppSec role I never wrote a single line of code. Like every single one of the other infinite number of infosec skills, it can be useful but not everyone needs it.

I studied programming in college. I absolutely know how to code. I haven’t used it once in 15 years in cybersecurity. Can I look at a script and tell you the gist of what it’s doing? Sure, end of list. And even that hasn’t come up a lot. Pretty UIs rule the world.

The leaders of black tech twitter are people who can’t code . That’s the problem with the space. When the majority of the your “leaders” are tech adjacent and “influencers” that’s when you know your messed up in the game

@d0rkph0enix So traditional SIEM brings you a live mouse and drops it on the floor to let you deal with it?

I just described XSIAM to a potential client as: “a solution that will go out and cross reference various data sources to bubble up an incident to your attention, much like a cat bringing you a dead mouse and dropping it at your feet as a present”. So, uhhh. Happy Monday? 😬🤷🏻‍♀️😂
