Was down on the Somerset levels yesterday and saw fields that would normally be too wet to get on already dry and cracked with water in ditches low. It’s worryingly dry everywhere. With grain and dairy already short, a drought would be an utter disaster.

In a large country store earlier, I had a glimpse of the future. They were selling 2 ltrs of milk for £1.80 (90ppl). As I watched customers picking it up without even batting an eyelid it dawned on me that majors continuing to push out 4pts at £1.15 (50.7ppl) simply has no future
