@SarahChris4NW Hi - if a referendum was called tomorrow, would you vote to keep the Labour Party affiliation? Or to end the affiliation?

We are now in the nominations stage for branches to endorse candidates for this year's executive council elections. In the North West region, vote for Sarah Mountaine and Chris Neville!

@pmpoc Hi. What is Members Unite position on Labour Party affiliation? United Left laughably want to preserve the affiliation (which is an absurd position given what’s happening in Birmingham / the NHS / local authority) Are MU & UL standing on the same slate….?

@RDonaldson91 Great scenes indeed! Working people organised in Trade Unions taking large-scale strike action. Why are so many working people on strike? They are striking against changes being pushed by Conservative / Nationalist Prime Minister Bart De Wever. Respect.

@OisinMul_ Forest have no wins in last 5 league games and we’re scheduled another managerial sacking before the end of the season. We’ve also got to play Spurs later this month and we’ll bottle that. West Ham to stay up I reckon

@Botskyist @daniel_moi97111 AWL are already doing entryism in the Green Party. They label it as ‘reconnaissance’ but their instruction clearly talks about trying to influence the direction of the Party, and recruitment to their own organisation.

@daniel_moi97111 I would suggest that SWP, RCP, elements within RS21, AWL as four likely groups to enter or consider it There’s a difference between entry, via membership, and going to public meetings of course to politely criticise Polanski etc.

I think one effect of YP’s stagnation/missed opportunity and this by-election result in G&D will be the following: Some more ethereal, middle class Marxist tendencies will now consider doing entryism into the Green Party. They flirted with the idea before but now will commit.

@AnsellEade Yeah I’d agree that there’s certainly different attitudes within about the nature of where it should be in terms of a party / alliance / network etc.

@aRoutineSearch The mood among the membership is clearly that this is not a hard and fast party - around a quarter of members voting at the founding conference backed “Popular Alliance” as a name. And there may be a back and forth of membership between Greens and YP over the next few years.

@AnsellEade Just reading a published briefing from the AWL national committee (Jan 2026) — indeed AWL still encourage Labour Party membership and have people inside Labour doing various types of organising.

@AnsellEade Yeah they were proscribed as an organisation, but I’m not sure if many members got expelled In 2024 Gen Election, the AWL slogan was “vote Labour everywhere”… they worked in the party, campaigning *against* Corbyn & other independents Maybe they have chosen to exit Labour now?
