Academic titles are funny. After 14 years, I finally have the official title that people might have always assumed I had.

While most AI tries to fix humans @simile_ai is building AI that understands them. They build digital twins that capture someone’s worldview, then simulate how customers, employees or entire populations will actually respond to change. Born out of Stanford generative agent research. Now backed by $100M to turn that into a category. AI is getting smarter and Simile is making it more human. We're proud to be in their corner. 🤝

Introducing Simile. Simulating human behavior is one of the most consequential and technically difficult problems of our time. We raised $100M from Index, Hanabi, A* BCV, @karpathy @drfeifei @adamdangelo @rauchg @scottbelsky among others.

On a personal note, it has been incredibly rewarding to work alongside Joon, Michael, Percy, Lainie, Mihika, and the entire Simile team. There is something special about seeing friends build the future you want to see in the world, from watching Lainie’s journey from the early Hebbia days to becoming a founding member of Simile, to seeing Zoe move from Australia to SF to build the early commercial motion. There is truly nothing better than building with people you care about. ❤️

The early use cases are already compelling. In market research, from content testing to product feedback, you can test any idea you’ve ever had and get instant, directional insight. What used to take weeks of coordination and significant budget can now happen in minutes. And that is just the beginning. The surface area of opportunity here is enormous.

AI has spent the last few years proving it can master objective decision-making, getting the right answers, passing the LSAT, acing medical exams. But real life isn’t a standardized test. Human decision-making is messy, emotional, inconsistent, and deeply contextual. That imperfection isn’t a bug, it’s a defining feature of how we operate. As we look toward an AI-shaped future, understanding those deeply human patterns of behavior feels not just interesting, but essential.

Bias to action shows up early. Before 18, eight jobs and a self-started produce delivery business. Since then, the same muscle — learn by doing, move with conviction. Over the last four years, that’s meant leading and contributing to 35 ICs and helping shape our healthcare investing practice from day one. Proud to recognize @alysaaco as Partner at BCV.
