@ellad3vi @IMadeLaws Honestly, of all of the horrendous things to mock them about, … this is not one.
English

@xevekiah @uranoutofluck Horrible. My friend had a very traumatic birth of her only child (only for that reason,) and later, when her she and her husband were telling me about it, he said the doctor had asked HIM if he should do a C-section, and he’d said, “I don’t know.”
She cried when she heard that.
English

I NEEDED a C-section. Baby was in distress. Heart rate dropping.
OB:
“Let’s try longer.”
“You’re strong.”
“You don’t want the scar.”
“Natural birth is better bonding.”
My baby’s heart rate kept dipping.
Nurse whispered, “If your husband requests it, we can move faster.”
So he did.
Suddenly the OR was ready.
Because a man saying “cut” is decisive.
A woman saying “I’m scared” is emotional.

what’s a clear example of medical misogyny you’ve witnessed or experienced?

@DrPlantel @r_tko1 My sweet neighbor is the mom of a wonderful 41-y.o. man with Down Syndrome. When she broke her arm last year & had to be hospitalized, he was home alone for the first time in his life. I took him his dinner every evening and helped him with the wash.
She said it was a vacation.😢

I’ve had women, including my own patients, tell me the only time they’ve ever truly rested was when they were too sick to function, injured, or hospitalized.
Because that’s the only time the world stops demanding things from them or the only time they feel empowered to say no.
If the only way a woman is “allowed” to rest is by being unwell…what kind of world are we living in?

@perfectrose2011 @1goodtern This is terrifying to me. My husband’s in the hospital with sepsis following months of recovery from a broken leg/knee following a sports injury. He had all of the metal removed Friday.
English

@1goodtern If he developed sepsis from the contaminated lacerated skin from the injury, given no antibiotics, then no, it would be about the right length of time for sepsis to develop and organs to fail, leading to death. From a former Critical Care RN x 34 yrs. Sepsis often misdiagnosed.
English

People know how unusual it is for a 30 year old elite athlete to die within a week from a knee infection, right?
Right?
"His death occurred as a result of medical complications arising from the accident he suffered last Saturday. Once the team arrived in Oviedo, Spain, Cristian was examined again at a clinic, where medical staff detected a difficult-to-treat infection that required further specialist care. Following the crash, Cristian was initially treated at a medical centre, where he received treatment for an injury to his left knee. His condition deteriorated and, despite all the efforts of the medical team, Cristian passed away on Friday morning."

@bam_buttercup @LucasSa56947288 Yeah, but that could also be the dementia.

@LucasSa56947288 Watch the video, and you will clearly see how unfazed and composed Trump is, even as gunshots are heard and everyone around him is in shock.

So, a bunch of us who've been to events with POTUS or VPOTUS over the years know you have to have your DOB and SSN sent 72 hours in advance. There are metal detectors EVERYWHERE. You're cavity searched.
So explain to me why this keeps happening? Is it staged or is the Secret Service in on it? Because Obama got like a ridiculous amount of threats and the WH was shot at and fence jumpers etc... and not once did anyone get this close. With Trump, it's happened THREE TIMES. So something isn't right here.....

My boyfriend and I are planning to buy a house together after dating for 3 years.
He earns significantly more than I do, so he’d be contributing about 70% of the down payment. Because of that, he wants the house to be only in his name.
He says it’s just “fair” based on the numbers, but we’d both be living there, splitting bills, and building a life together.
I’ve been watching a lot of relationship content about equity vs equality, and it made me realize things don’t always have to be 50/50 but this feels like I’d have no security at all.
He said if we ever broke up, he’d “do the right thing,” but that doesn’t really reassure me.
My friends say don’t move in unless my name is on it. His friends apparently think I’m being entitled.
Now I feel stuck between trusting him and protecting myself.
Is this a red flag I’m trying too hard to rationalize?
English

@ra2_GoUS @NotThatHughes That is a STRANGE way to look at it. I bet you saw a ”40% of deaths by stabbing in EU” or something and assumed we had more than the US. The USA has MORE stabbing deaths per capita than the EU. AND the US has FAR MORE gun deaths. Giving folks MORE murder options is a bad idea.
English

@NotThatHughes Only morons think that the world is safe enough to not need firearms. Good luck on your theory that banning guns means criminals don't have them. Conversely I'm watching european mass stabbings because people that ban guns also get stupid when someone has a knife.

Only in America would a shotgun that fits neatly in a school bag be considered a major selling point.
Gun Lovers Club@GunloverClub1
This 12-gauge folding shotgun fits in a standard backpack and goes from stowed to 'send it' in 3 seconds.

Living in Louisiana means that starting in March our temperatures can easily be hanging in the 80 degree plus range daily. Please don’t leave your kids in a car for even a moment. The danger of someone snatching the kids and the HEAT are real!
What appears to be 3 children left in an unattended vehicle for at least an hour turns out to be even worse than expected.
Would you have called the police and waited or would you have gotten the kids out of the car one way or another?

@Ojeda4America @SFDukie A few years ago I was visiting a community center for asylum seekers and locals to meet here in Germany, and a man grabbed my hand and said, “You’re American?! I am a translator! But I got sent here!” He couldn’t speak German.
English

Let me be clear: this SICKENS me. I spent YEARS writing letters to get my interpreters in America because they SAVED OUR LIVES. One of my interpreters was a 15 year old kid. One day, we were working with the Afghan police and he went stone quiet. After we left, I asked him what was wrong. He told me that the Afghan police had just threatened to cut his lips off for helping us. He was FIFTEEN. And he risked EVERYTHING for our soldiers.
Admiral James Stavridis, USN, Ret.@stavridisj
Shame on us. I think of the brave Afghans that stood alongside us against the Taliban, especially those I worked with personally during my four years in command of the NATO mission there. It is incomprehensible to me that we would not bring them here to the United States, fulfilling the most fundamental obligations of trust and honor. nytimes.com/2026/04/21/wor…

@thatERguy @ZNursinga Really, really grateful for the ER doctor who took my husband’s concerns seriously yesterday (less than 24 hours after another doctor had sent him home.) He’s currently in the ICU battling bacteremia.
