MEDIA STATEMENT. The @cdf_command Condemns the Arrests of our Defenders in Mutare. Meanwhile we call for the defense of the constitution, it is important that we speak more to its implementation particularly the bill of rights which guarantees the freedom of Assembly. @HStvNews

🛑Yesterday, the CDF Youth Command, as led by Cde Gwena, joined our National Secretary for Mobilization and Recruitment Gilbert Mbwende in our ongoing mobilization blitz that was called for by our Convener Hon Tendai Biti. CDF is on the ground, mobilizing and organizing! #Aluta!

Amnesty International strongly condemns the arbitrary arrest and detention of Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) convener Tendai Biti, its programs director Morgan Ncube, journalist Fanuel Chinowaita, and lawyer Nyasha Gerald Mukonyora in Mutare yesterday. Of the four, Nyasha Gerald Mukonyora and Fanuel Chinowaita were released without charge after being detained for several hours, while Tendai Biti and Morgan Ncube were charged with contravening the Maintenance of Peace and Order Act by failing to notify the police of a public meeting and are expected to appear in court for their initial hearing on Monday, 23 March 2026. We demand the immediate release of Tendai Biti and Morgan Ncube, who were peacefully exercising their constitutionally guaranteed rights. Authorities must respect, protect, and guarantee the freedom of assembly, expression, and association.

Zimbabwe cannot be governed through fear and repression. The arrests of Constitution Defenders and abductions of students with differing views is poor Presidential Advice and Governance at its peak. The Young people of Zimbabwe should not and will not just watch. #NoTo2030.

Zanu PF is modeling through out the country holding meetings in support of CAB3. On the other hand, anyone else who is holding a different view is being arrested, sometimes just for existing. We should realize that asking for permission to defend will not work. We will Act.
