Today in budget hearings, we heard from the Office of Property Assessment and right now, we have not had any improvements in our processes and it is costing our City millions in lost revenue. We need stronger, more efficient processes in reference to our commercial appeals that ensure we’re collecting what’s owed.

This is a defining moment for the School Board. If they move forward with today’s vote without the changes the community and Councilmembers have been asking for, there will be consequences at the ballot box.

Pennsylvania has the lowest legally allowed minimum wage in the country. Every state surrounding Pennsylvania - including West Virginia - has a higher minimum wage. This puts PA at an economic disadvantage when it comes to attracting workers & bringing in tax revenue.

Have businesses looked at what teams are playing here? Iraq isn’t exactly going bring a ton of fans… you’re basically gouging local customers or worse giving them incentive to not attend anything at all. This whole “economic” boost relies on people from the region spending $

BREAKING: Connecticut House passed a bill to require parents to prove their innocence before allowing them to homeschool. The vote was 96–53. It's on the Senate calendar. Connecticut may be the first state to go backwards on homeschool freedom in the last 50 years.

@FischerKing64 Jus Soli was inherited from England where its been law since medieval times. I agree this would never pass and that the SC will rule in favor of keeping it the way it is.

Senator Rand Paul@SenRandPaul·
I am introducing a Constitutional Amendment to end Birthright Citizenship. Under current interpretations of American law, anyone born on American soil automatically becomes a U.S. citizen, regardless of whether the parent was here legally or not.  This is wrong and not at all the intent of those who wrote the 14th Amendment.  We are a country filled with immigrants, and legal immigration is valuable and should be protected. But we are also a country whose borders have been too open and our generosity exploited too often. President Trump has moved to seal our border from illegal immigrants more than any other president.   But we will have more to do. We need to make sure that only children born to legal residents of the U.S. are automatically citizens. I have supported protecting birthright citizenship from abuse since the beginning of my tenure in the Senate, when I cosponsored the Birthright Citizenship Act of 2011, and now I am proposing an amendment to protect United States citizenship in case the Supreme Court fails to address this issue correctly.

Per four sources, Gov. Josh Shapiro sent a letter to an unknown number of "utility leaders" yesterday asking for more cost-effective financing and more transparency when requesting rate hikes. His office does not exercise control over rates but does hold a vast bully pulpit.

Philadelphia is a nice city and you should visit🔔
It is crazy how bad food used to be. You would stop in a town on a road trip and PRAY they had an Applebee's otherwise you were probably stuck a greasy spoon diner burger or some takeout Chinese. Now even dive bars have sweet potato fries.

@harrisonfinberg That money will just vanish into thin air and evictions will still be at a snails pace and rare. The sheriffs office is ruined and new leadership is not enough to fix it. It's on council to fix it so naturally....

Yes. Give her the money and make sure this happens. I can not stress enough, subscale workforce housing is impossible if evictions take 8 months. And there are way more scam artist tenants taking advantage than you think, whatever you’d expect- it’s ALOT more.

Many people have tried to explain to me the difference between socialism and communism and i still don’t really get it…I guess it seems like this…both systems take all the money and stuff of the productive people but in socialism those people pretend it’s fine??

Ya know, growing up in the South in the ‘60s and ‘70s, one thing I would not have predicted is the dismantling of the Civil Rights era in the interest of “fairness” to white people. A lot of good people bled and died for those gains.
