According to the National Weather Service, our city was impacted last evening by a series of at least four severe microbursts that brought destructive straight-line wind gusts across parts of West and South Philadelphia. From the moment the storms moved through, our first responders, emergency officials, city crews, utility partners, and community partners went into action to protect residents, clear hazards, restore services, and begin the recovery. After meeting with residents, surveying the damage firsthand, and receiving operational briefings from our response teams, I signed a Declaration of Disaster Emergency related to the July 11 storms to strengthen our recovery efforts. Thank you to every first responder, emergency official, city worker, and partner who answered the call today. Your professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to serving Philadelphia made a real difference when our residents needed you most. Our work is far from over. City crews will continue working around the clock to clear hazards, restore services, assess damage, and support every affected neighborhood. If your property sustained storm-related damage, please complete the City’s online damage survey. If you have an emergency, call 911. For non-emergency issues, please use @philly311.
