1 in 3 GP partners now earn more than the PM, so the BMA's claim they lack resources for online bookings simply isn't credible. We’ve backed general practice with £1.1bn extra funding & by employing 2,500 more GPs - because people deserve a modern service thetimes.com/uk/healthcare/…

@Pharmacistdaz It’s the antibiotic prescribing that I have spent the last ten years trying to not overdo that is now in free fall. Plus every dysuria being diagnosed as a uti. So dangerous

Said this before but I’ll say it again. Just one lifetime ago in the UK, our grandfathers could buy a home, buy a car, have 3 to 4 children, wives could stay home, take annual vacations, and then retire… all on one middle-class salary. What happened? We had same day GP, ambulances within minutes, dentists, good education, decent public transport, clean river and beaches. So AGAIN WTF happened?

Sad but true. Frankly, as a secondary care consultant, I often hear these stories. Many of my patients either can’t get to see their GP/can only see a non doctor/have to wait 2-3 weeks even if it’s something urgent. I know there are many good GPs but overall my perception is the service is grossly overwhelmed and therefore failing.

This Mounjaro situation is out of hand. Patients demanding it when they don’t qualify, or qualify but there’s no pathway in our patch yet. Or private providers sending us love notes that require medicolegal defence strategies that all takes up time. Sick of it.

I had an endoscopy probing today. Is anyone humanly capable of calmly breath through their nose when a 1/4 inch tube is being pushed down your throat against the inflamed region that's causing you to gag and vomit? It was like being waterboarded.

@PhilSmithIsBack It’s why I always take my own history from a patient this is the art. This is the 20 years of experience. Get the history right and it all follows. Tick boxes and ‘others’ don’t work !

Taskification and substitution in the NHS - a hypothetical case of how splitting up pt care into "tasks" misses the diagnosis & costs more: A recently married 45 yr old Pt develops bloody diarrhoea over 4 weeks. "The protocol" says they need a blood test, stool MCS & FIT test 1/

Failed to renew my Direct Debit 2020 because I felt @rcgp had failed to protect General Practice Dr Stephen Taylor MRCGP (1995-2020) 25yrs of paying a DD after passing an EXAM that entitled me to write MRCGP after my name If not RCGP should not be in charge of the entry to GP
Dr Steve Taylor tweet media
Parody RCGP@Parody_RCGP

Breaking: The RCGP clarifies Post Nominal position They are concerned that continued use might fool patients or colleagues into thinking that they have a direct debit. The e same organisation that was happy for PAs to pretend to be doctors and cause harm. Make it make sense.

@Microbedoc2 Such a waste of time. Makes me so angry as a gp doing them and thinking of the waste of time nationally and money ( 600 ) per appraisal let alone admin.

The appraisal process for consultants - appreciate the CPD aspect, but the summary reflection with pointless prose fitting the GMC domains and themes is just a monumental waste of time. Why is it every regulator or NHS executive body seem to think things are made better with yet

What I don’t understand is that they want to up the retirement age to 70yrs for state pension & yet public sector pensions the retirement age is 55yrs. How does that seem right?
