@AmandaB55744931 Glad that the introduction of secondary care referral assessments are now in place. Hope that GP is taken to task for wasting NHS resources

My new GP appears to want to help but without wanting to listen. She makes referrals with no discussion so they are for the wrong thing. I think that is worse than doing nothing. I’ve had to cancel one referral and now am trying to stop a second one until we can speak 😖

This is the sad reality of a normal day in the NHS. No strikes, No excuses. Yet we’ve got fully qualified doctors sitting unemployed while patients are left waiting 21 hours in A&E. Years of mismanagement and catastrophic workforce planning failure. What a betrayal to patients

@Observer_1947 @avfcbreaking @Aadam_Aziz Some Gp’s refer cos they want to get rid of the patient probably they aren’t confident to treat the patient I worked with a an experienced GP who referred 3 times more than me and the outcome was the same. A drain on the tax payer. Thank god she’s retired

@avfcbreaking @Aadam_Aziz There aren’t enough GPs and those in jobs are already over worked. Consultants and throwing back referrals on to GP doorsteps as if a GP is meant to treat cancer.

@avfcbreaking @Aadam_Aziz That photo isn’t recent , ?early 2024. What factors contributed to that WT. That waiting time does not happen often. There is 111 to call, Urgent Care Centers, minor injuries, etc that can triage people before going into ED’s.

@Aadam_Aziz I recently spent 48 hours in A&E - it was a horrible experience and I wasn't even the patient. The most hilarious thing was the food offer. All patients got between lunch and breakfast was a sandwich or a yoghurt. But you couldn't have both! Anyone on their own would have starved

I told the GP I was off the meds and would be controlling in naturally from now on. I may as well have been taking to a walk. Here’s the response:

The BMA@TheBMA·
We have uncovered a haphazard approach to the use of Advanced Practitioner (AP) roles by NHS trusts. Our investigation has revealed almost half of hospital trusts are using non-doctors to fill doctor rota gaps.   APs can play an important and valued role in patient care. But they should not be asked to substitute for doctors to address staffing gaps.   Patients shouldn’t have to worry about whether NHS managers have asked non-doctors to deliver care that only doctors can safely deliver. Resident doctors told us that advanced practitioners were used on their rotas. Our data shows this is the case, appearing to be in breach of NHS guidelines in England. NHSE says APs “should not replace the roles of doctors”, yet here we are. theguardian.com/society/2026/a…

Up, washed and dressed by 8am to sit next to the phone for my Drs call. It’s booked for 8.30 but I like to be early & ready Currently it’s 9.24am so far the Dr hasn’t called. I’m reluctant to start doing stuff (or even going to the loo) in case I miss the call I hate waiting

My friend's 90 year old mum, who suffers with dementia, rang NHS 111 with a strangulated hernia & was asked 3 TIMES what sex she was registered at birth & then asked 3 TIMES what gender she identifies as. She was really confused & ended up having an emergency op! OUTRAGEOUS 🤬

@_Brian_Hunter My referral for an abnormal Ecg was dealt with at a "non face to face" appointment at 1:30am and sent back to my GP - nobody can convince me that this isn't the government instructing the NHS to massage the figures for propaganda purposes.

You see your GP. After diagnosing your issue decides only a specialist can provide and manage the treatment plan. The hospital Ai , PA, and other non-doctors refuse the referral. Does the GP keep trying different hospitals? Does the patient keep trying different GPs or just die?

Medical students who don't have the wealth to pay for fees upfront face more than £100,000 of debt. This is a real terms additional tax for most of their working lives. Yet they are paid just £19/hr when they start working as fully qualified doctors.

Did @wesstreeting apologies to those medical students for withdrawing 1000 speciality training places and therefore making it harder for them to get a job in the NHS.

If Consultants have to reject 25% of referrals we just need to increase the rate at which we refer by 25%. Yes that bilirubin of 31 definitely needs to be seen by the consultant. Sometimes I fall over with how genius I am.

@Browneyedg62479 @drlukeevans Clearly you don’t know how GP’s work. Some GP’s just do what the patient wants or just to get them out of the consultation room they appease the patient and say we’ll refer you….. Just like giving antibiotics inappropriately to those who clinically do not require them

@drlukeevans There was me thinking that GP’s were the experts who assess , diagnose and want the best for their patients , yet when they try to do this you’ve got possibly a pen pusher the other end saying no the GP is wrong , couldn’t make it up
