California needs to pass a law that it is illegal to be homeless and have a dog.
I don’t give a fuck about the one dog you saw with the homeless person who seemed mentally sane at the time when you see the reality of what’s happening to most of them it’s fucking sickening.
Having a dog is a privilege not a right.
Excellent news and some common sense at last. Nobody should be arrested for saving animals!!
BREAKING: The Court of Appeals just overturned @WayneHsiung's felony conviction for his role in rescuing 37 abused hens from a factory egg farm called Sunrise Farms. They also overturned his misdemeanor trespass conviction for his role in the rescue of 32 sick ducklings from Reichardt Duck Farm.
The Court ruled that Hsiung should have been allowed to argue that he believed his actions to be legal under the necessity defense. Further, the Court wrote that "Neither this court nor the California Supreme Court has ruled that the necessity defense applies exclusively to situations involving physical harm to a human," validating that individuals could have the right to violate laws in order to rescue animals from extreme harm.
The Court did not overturn his misdemeanor trespass conviction for his actions at Sunrise Farms or make a clear ruling affirming that the necessity defense actively does apply to nonhuman animals. Consequently, Wayne will be appealing to the California Supreme Court on this issue.
Nevertheless, this is a major step forward towards establishing the Right to Rescue and positioning animals as persons under the law.
Thank you for caring Wayne 🙏.
@ksorbs Why don't they call gender affirming care what it is, "cutting off parts the person was born with and adding parts that the person was not born with".
Nojo!
In Palitana, something happened that most of the world has never seen before.
This city made a bold choice. Meat is no longer part of daily life there. Slaughterhouses were shut down. Butcher shops closed their doors. Selling or eating meat inside the city became illegal.
This did not come from a trend or a government experiment. It came from deep belief. Hundreds of Jain monks protested. Many went on a hunger strike. They asked for a city that follows nonviolence in the purest form. No killing. No harm.
And it worked.
Around 250 butcher shops were forced to close. Thousands of animals were spared. For many people, it changed how they lived overnight.
Not everyone agreed. Some lost their jobs. Some felt their choices were taken away. Others saw it as a powerful stand for compassion.
No matter where you stand, one thing is clear. This is not just a policy. It is a statement.
A whole city chose to say that life matters more than habit.
And in a world where meat is everywhere, that choice stands out.

@domdyer70 Dommage que je sois trop âgée pour m expatrier, car etant végétarienne depuis plus de 50ans, ce genre de ville serait idéale, comme la région des bishnois. Si d autres pays pouvaient prendre exemple ! Un rêve.
@domdyer70 the world's first city to ban the sale, consumption, and slaughter of meat and eggs after 200 Jain monks protested with a hunger strike around 2014, leading to the closure of about 250 butcher shops
