Earlier in her career she also supported operations over the Balkans during Operation Deliberate Forge. Her career was only beginning. In 2005, Malachowski broke a historic barrier. She became the first woman selected to fly with the legendary United States Air Force Thunderbirds. Flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon, she performed high speed formation maneuvers just feet away from other jets while thousands watched below. The precision required for Thunderbird flying is extraordinary. Every movement must be perfect.
