@LauraEWebsterr No, it's a recipe for empty shelves. A producer has the option to supply shops in Scotland and elsewhere. Prices capped below market value in Scotland, then clearly they won't supply here. Madness, and really puts me off voting SNP.

This is a great policy announcement because:
1) it's actual action on cost of living, not vague pledges to "tackle" it (eg Labour)
2) the furious reaction from the right exposes that the people who claim to be on the side of regular folk mainly care about shareholder's profits

The goal of the Chinese-state owned Ming Yang wind turbine factory plan was to undermine Europe's wind turbine industry, costing thousands of jobs and billions of Euros in wealth, just like what is happening to European automotive manufacturing.
Denmark's Vestas has just agreed to build a wind turbine nacelle and hub factory in Scotland, which was negotiated in return for the UK blocking Ming Yang.
The EU has made it clear to the UK Government that any deepening of our trade partnership is conditional on blocking the Ming Yang trojan horse.
Swinney and the SNP claim to be committed pro-Europeans and aspire to join the EU as a member state.
They are industrial and geopolitical hypocrites that trample over all reason in search of a grievance.

I'm pleased that the UK Government has taken a strategically sound decision to protect Europe's wind turbine manufacturing base from Chinese dumping.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Government subsidises Chinese firms to dump even more electric buses, undermining our manufacturing base.

I just paid €4.80, like a proper fool, for an almond croissant from The Art of Coffee, a perfectly pleasant but fairly run of the mill café chain where their pain au chocolat is, more often than not, stale. Now, this croissant is large and stuffed with filling, but nearly a fiver for a pastry is simply too much. Yet this is how we're going. I could have said no thanks and walked out when the server told me the price, but you know when someone insults you and you freeze, and it takes you a minute to react? That, except with pastry.

@Lewis334_ @Johnmilton124 @ScotRail Fair enough, Rutherglen wouldn't work without temporary platforms on the main line. But there are trains from the west that can't get to Central, and trains from the East that can't get to Central. Just run east to west missing out central.

@dcomerf @Johnmilton124 @ScotRail Genuinely what's your plan to run trains to Rutherglen? It's off the mainline which would involve a double turn back at a station which already has 6tph each direction. Newton is 4tph with one siding and even then drivers aren't likely trained for that line.

But when renewables generate, the price that their output can be sold for falls to zero. Fossil fuels can vary their supply so that they sell when the price is high. Hence higher cost AND more profitable.

Glasgow Central will not reopen this week, Network Rail has just said. It must wait for the fire service and city council to check the safety of the burnt out Union Corner building before it can check the station for damage. However, the low level station will reopen tomorrow.
