Food for thought: The Inquisitors with their whirly twirly helicopter lightsabers never actually kill any Jedi, even though that’s their job. In fact they get killed by Jedi a lot more or let them escape. It happens in Rebels, Tales Of The Underworld, Jedi Survivor/Fallen Order..

Daily reminder than Maul alone held his own against Vader while having a broken leg + suffering from prior injuries + exhausted and still survived several minutes of duel. Had he been fine like in Episode 4 where he defeated Daki easily, it would have been epic to see.

IMO, most of the hate towards The Last Jedi comes down to:
“I dislike what happened in the story” = “this movie is bad”
But you disliking what happened doesn’t mean the movie is bad. You just don’t like what happened in a great movie.
