@JonesLee5050 @MasterBolaji Another point for economic benefit is most of the airlines now that take pilgrimages to Saudi are Nigerian own with Nigerian crew, so taxes and revenue, travel agencies are Nigerian own too, things pilgrims buy and sell in Nigeria earn money to circulate in Nigeria.

@MasterBolaji I honestly expected Buhari to stop the practice of using public funds to sponsor pilgrimages that clearly haa zero economic benefits & he disappointed. Much like everything else. Its a shame in this age & time public funds are wasted, looted & misused in the guise of pilgrimage.

Sokoto's 2026 budget is ₦758B. The state sponsored 2,140 people for Hajj. At about ₦9M per pilgrim, that's roughly ₦19.3B. Add the ₦450k given to each pilgrim (about ₦963M). Total is over ₦20B. Agriculture got ₦18.74B. And Sokoto remains Nigeria's poorest state.

Sokoto State: The poorest in Nigeria. 90.05% poverty rate. It means 9 out of every 10 people in Sokoto can't afford a decent square meal. Sent 2,410 people to Hajj. Gave each of them ₦450,000. Now multiply ₦450,000 by 2,410. You see how they spend their money? It's sad.

@JonesLee5050 @MasterBolaji It's a bit too much to say pilgrimages have zero economic benefit, many people are religious and spiritual, and it's something that's super important to them, it's not always about food and eating all the time, just like you go to church even when you're broke

@MasterBolaji Another things you think this screening is a nonsense process, you need to demonstrate you're mentally fit, you are responsible with witnesses, the man has a job or business and both spouses are healthy. Say what you will but it's gonna happen whether you like it or not

@MasterBolaji Unlike other people we don't believe in sex outside marriage or bastard children. Our community believe in setting up homes for future generations. You know how ridiculously expensive marriages cost are during this period, our government simply subsidies it.

Anyone who cannot afford a wedding will struggle with the responsibilities of marriage. If the govt funds the wedding, will it also fund the marriage itself? A wedding is often cheaper than the realities that follow. Northern governors are intentionally breeding poverty.

@MujahidSSaad It's not about the 3,000 bride price, it's about not involving parents and guardians, and following religious and societal norms. ₦5 bride price is acceptable if you do it with the parent/guardians permission with witnesses. Remember marriage is not a play, you have to feed

Hisbah Lashes Two Boys, Couple Over ₦3,000 Bride Price Wedding in Bauchi** The Hisbah Commission of Bauchi State has reportedly taken disciplinary action against a young couple and two other individuals over an alleged marriage conducted with a bride price of ₦3,000 in Bauchi State. According to reports circulating within the state, the marriage arrangement was considered improper and contrary to accepted procedures, prompting intervention by Hisbah officials. The commission is said to have carried out corporal punishment on the individuals involved as part of its enforcement of moral and religious standards. The incident has generated widespread reactions among residents, with some members of the public supporting Hisbah’s action as a way of preserving social and religious values, while others have criticized the use of physical punishment, calling for more education and proper guidance for young people. As of the time of filing this report, authorities have not issued an official detailed statement regarding the incident. The matter continues to attract attention across Bauchi State, with ongoing debate on the appropriate approach to addressing such cases.
