"What if this" "what if that". Everything in life involves risk man. Especially marriage. All these stipulations are just one foot out the door self protections that become self fulfilling prophecies. Its a lot better to take a risk than regret. You're never going to "minimize risk" and optimize a romantic relationship.

So the discourse around this Dave Ramsey clip is so mixed up that I’ve just decided to upload the whole thing. In the full context of the call, the caller makes it perfectly obvious that: 1. She has been with this man, whom she is now living with, for six years. 2. She is a nurse and can make her own money. 3. She has been out of school for two years, and in that time she has paid off $70,000 of the debt. In the course of the call, Dave never suggests that this man should have to pay for that debt. Indeed, he actively suggests that she leave him, which guarantees he will not pay for the debt. Dave also all but says that, because of her career choice, the caller will be able to pay for the debt on her own, even if she has to take extra hours. All Dave is saying—and this should have been obvious from the original clip—is that the two are not aligned on money and debt at all. It is also clear that Dave thinks the man is stringing her along, which he is. So they simply should not be married at all, because this is a fundamental failure in the relationship. I myself would add that, at this late stage in the relationship, if you do not trust a woman financially, you should simply not be with that woman. And that is perfectly fine. But what you do not do is drag her along for six years when she obviously wants to get married, and then put another two or three years of financial hoops in front of her so that maybe you will propose. It is a waste of everybody’s time.

Dave Ramsey tells a nurse to dump her boyfriend after he refuses to propose until she pays off $90K in debt Caller: "I’m a 26 year old nurse with $90K in student loans. My boyfriend makes $250K a year, but he won’t propose until I’m completely debt free" Dave: "Dump him. He’s making you prove your worth based on money. You’re having to buy your way into this relationship" "The No. 1 cause of divorce in North America today is money fights and money problems and guess what this is? This is a money fight"

@js_farinet @CTrefugees Wait wait wait. You think it makes no sense for a man NOT to inherit 90k of someone else's personal debt?

So are you of the view that he should break up with her over the 90k? Your line of reasoning aligns with that. Or are you of the mind that she should pay off the debt first before they get married? Because that POV makes no sense and is in line with a "separate finances" view of marriage.

No I don't. My view is when you get married, you both have what each other has. 1 bank account, all debt becomes one anothers. So you not only assume something I do not believe, but you fail to understand basic financial realities. YOU are the one assuming this is a traditional marriage. It's not. No man with any financial sense would intake 90k (originally 160k) as his responsibility. No man under any circumstance is responsible for a woman's financial idiocy if he's not married to her. So let's take the very real reality of current society. He marries her, then what? Now he owns 90k in debt. For what? For kids? Guess who isn't working then. What if they get divorced? So he pays off her debt, then they divorce, and he loses half of his assets. This is her debt, not his. Despite that, this man is literally paying for her lifestyle, rent, utlities, dates, vacations, etc. Helping her to pay her own loans off early. There is not a traditional Christian marriage in the entire history of society that calls for a man to marry a career woman with 160k in student loan debt with 6-8% usury. The only one that would benefit is her, and it is to his total detriment.

@js_farinet @MrsMagdaBeard @CTrefugees What does the amount of money he makes have to do with anything? So you think because he makes 250k that he should marry her and pay off all her debt? That's insane.

The discourse around this is retarded. Once you are married the money is THE SAME. Either she goes into the marriage debt free and the couple is 90k poorer, or they pay the debt together and the couple is 90k poorer. If 90k is the difference on wanting to spend ur life with someone, paying it before or after doesnt matter, what matters is if you want to spend ur life with that someone.

@CTrefugees Stringing her along? He literally has funded her lifestyle to allow herself to pay down 70knof student loans. He’s saving her from her financial ruin. Why would a man be forced to pay some chicks 160k student loan debt she got herself into when they aren’t married?

I always say only in combat sports can you fully comprehend the gap between you and a pro. Its hard to realize how much better a MLB outfielder is than you, or especially in sports where genetics is 90% of it (NFL), but in combat sports you get rag dolled by a guy ur same size, then u see that guy get rag dolled by another, then him by another, until 10 steps away you see a world champ and you understand how brutally hed beat you.

If you are seeking marriage one piece of advice I would give is to meet people where they are NOT where you hope or want them to be. Your spouse will have flaws, but they're not going to fundamentally change into a different person altogether just because you hope for it. So when you're dating you shouldn't expect that someone will make major changes for marriage, you have to accept them as they already are. If you can't do that? Then it's fine to move on. You deserve to meet someone that matches who you are, and so do they.

This sounds cool. But wait. 400 diapers will last a family with a newborn approximately five weeks. The program will cost the state approx. $12.4 million this year alone. That money will be funneled through a company called Baby2Baby, which will then provide their branded diapers to 400 participating in hospitals (California has over 500 hospitals in total.) Meaning that instead of lowering taxes and letting families keep their own money to buy essentials like diapers, California takes their money, pumps it through a “nonprofit” that has overhead and whose CEO made $240,000 in 2024, to provide a “free” service available only in certain locations, and that you could have bought yourself for much cheaper.
FactPost@factpostnews

Gov. Gavin Newsom has announced California will be the first state in the nation to provide free diapers to newborns. Families will receive 400 diapers when discharged from the hospital.

Dave Ramsey is good for poor retards who need to be told to spend less and eat beans and rice. At his core he is a man hating boomer that thinks men should burden themselves with all sorts of baggage and debt for any woman that walks past them. She needs to be an adult and pay off her loans, totally reasonable and he is dodging a massive bullet if she leaves him

People haven’t lost trust in “science,” they’ve lost trust in a self-selected self-perpetuating academic priest class who rely on constant alarmism or revisionism to secure funding and who look upon dissent as heretical to an extent that would make the medieval church blush.
Simon Maechling@simonmaechling

The collapse of trust in science is going to go down in history as one of the most sad, bizarre, and destructive social contagions of modern times. We fed billions, cured diseases and powered nations - yet people ran toward conspiracies instead.

Ryan Holiday has the cheapest form of writing: Chapter 1. Intro showing why [book title] is important Chapters 2-9: Historical anecdotes about [book title] Chapter 10: Conclusion about why [book title] is important
Greg Cello@gregcello

the Ryan Holiday crash out has been a sight to see. also, his books were always the perfect example for why you should just read the primary sources instead of some guy filtering everything through his own moral framework.
