POKÉMON VGC WILL NEVER BE THE SAME. 🏆
Day 2 of Pokémon Champions deep dive dropped and the competitive barrier is GONE:
✅ IVs REMOVED: All Pokémon are 31 IVs by default.
✅ EVs REPLACED: New "Stat Point" system (32 max per stat).
✅ PP REWORKED: Moves like Protect & Sucker Punch adjusted for balance.
✅ MEGA ABILITES: Mega Dragonite (Multiscale) & Mega Froslass (Snow Warning) confirmed.
✅ SHINY POKEMON: Pokémon recuited from ranch CAN be shiny
This is the most accessible Pokémon has ever been. April 8th is a new era.

Candidates 2026 shaping up to be one of the weakest by rating in over a decade 📉
The average rating sits around ~2749, lower than every modern edition except 2024 (2744).
For context:
2013 — 2786 (strongest ever)
2016 — 2777
2018 — 2785
2020 — 2773
2022 — 2766
Despite stars like Nakamura (~2810) and Caruana (2795), the overall field is dragged down by several players in the mid-2700s / high-2600s.
Still elite, but historically weaker.
Should FIDE rethink the qualification system to ensure the absolute strongest field every time

For anybody saying IVs don’t matter unless theyre 0 or 31, the distribution Incineroar from Wolfe’s EUIC 2025 team is literally 29 speed IV

It’s all but confirmed now that Pokémon Champions won’t have IVs, there’s no “Judge” function. You can assign 66 Stat Points (SPs) in any stat, up to 32 in a single stat.

Next in Group A we got the most improved player and amazing content creator @JacobSkraw who wants to showcase his skill with his team Po Town Pelippers. With heavy damage dealers like Flutter Mane, Landorus-T & Regidrago, his team is one of the scariest to play against.
Group B features another fan favourite. One of the most humble and best players the game has to offer is @lorcylovesyou who wants to crush this tour with his Queens Gholdengos. He drafted a very strong balance core in Ogerpon-Hearthflame, Incineroar and Mini Rillaboom. I am certain he will deliver some great games.

Fun fact: when developing the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet DLC, a bug occurred that affected development, due to DLC not being planned from the beginning.
So from now on Game Freak mandated that all future games will be programmed assuming DLC will be made.
