SENATORS WHO SPONSORED RESOLUTION REQUESTING ICC TO CONSIDER HOUSE ARREST FOR DUTERTE Voting 15-3-2, the Senate adopted Senate Resolution No. 28 during its plenary session on Wednesday, October 1. The resolution expresses the sense of the Senate requesting the International Criminal Court (ICC) to place former President Rodrigo Duterte under house arrest on humanitarian grounds. The resolution, jointly introduced by Senate Majority Leader Migz Zubiri and Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, cited Duterte's advanced age and deteriorating health as the basis for the appeal. It urges the ICC to assign a qualified physician to assess his medical condition and determine whether continued detention could further compromise his health. Minority bloc Senators Bong Go, Robinhood Padilla, Bato Dela Rosa, Imee Marcos, Rodante Marcoleta, Joel Villanueva, and Jinggoy Estrada joined in sponsoring the measure, emphasizing the importance of considering Duterte's age and health in setting the conditions of his detention.
