WWE and its PR staff has always worked hard to get cross-over coverage in mainstream outlets. I say that as someone who benefitted from this working at SI and The Athletic. PR would always cater to what you needed. It's why getting talent on say the Today show was always a coup. So ESPN (now a rightsholder partner) going all-out here as if it were the NCAA Tournament or Monday Night Football is a big win for Ari Emanuel Land.

This was the first SNL skit I ever remember watching and made me a fan of the show and Eddie Murphy. In addition to Eddie just being hysterical, I remember being fascinated to see the news spoofed.
